My name is Vicki and I just turned 39. (Feb 5th!) I've been married 20 years and have two teenage boys. After having kids then loosing my gallbladder, I gained a tremendous amount of weight. I've not been happy with myself for a very long time. I work with numbers and I'm chained to the desk for hours and hours! About 6 years ago I lost 59 pounds on the Atkins diet. I found it to be very good for me and I felt wonderful! I then got braces at age 35 and couldn't eat anything but ice cream, peanut butter sandwiches and mashed potatoes! They were so Painful for me! Wow, did I gain the weight back! By the time by braces came off 2 1/2 years later.. I had went from a size 8 back to a 14/16. Well, It's been a while since I have followed the Atkins diet. I had to get in the right frame of mind and decide I'm going to do this again. So, here I am... Starting all over again! I know I can do it! I just have to be disciplined and paitent with myself! My goal is to have a great looking body by the time I hit 40! So, on that note, I have 12 months and I'm sure it's going to take every bit of it to get myself down to my goal weight! OH... I absolutely love to cook! That explains a lot doesn't it? hahah! Wish me luck! :)

Great post! makes a lot of sense! Guess I'm probably hitting that soon. Nice to know what is really going on inside the body. I tend to not drink enough water and have noticed some swelling of my fingers, like water retention. I must change that behavior soon. But I'm loosing size and wearing smaller clothing so measurement is the key. Great advice to the scale watchers! Measure, Measure, Measure!! Thanks!

YES! LOL.... Laughing Those little bars are LETHAL if you eat more than one! Will do a number on your insides for sure! I can't eat more than one about every other day or I had better be alone the next day!

not loosing any weight
Dont give up. The first time I went on Atkins, I lost nothing for a month! It was so frustrating and I almost gave up... then all of a sudden the scale went down 7 pounds at once! My body apparently started loosing inches long before weight. I would suggest measuring your arms, legs, hips and etc.. to monitor your loss that way as well. Oh... and those strips...... they never turned for me either and I lost 59 pounds in 7 months the first time around, so dont give up! You may want to journal what your eating and drinking and dont forget to count carbs for those splenda packets and diet sodas if your having them. They add up quick and you dont even realize it. Akins Breakfast - Suggestions Needed
I eat a few pieces of celery with 2 TBS Low Carb Peter Pan Peanut butter in the morning when I'm sick of eggs. I hate celery, but if I cut it up into bite size pieces and put in the peanut butter, it doesnt seem to feel stringy in the mouth. Smile I also have a great Chicken Curry salad recipe that I eat straight out of the bowl. I'll post that recipe soon. My kids absolutely love it!
