My target weight is 175. I started at 308. I reward myself every time I lose 10 lbs. REWARD = Eat what ever I want for 1 or 2 meals and then get back on the saddle. The theory is, shock the system every few weeks so that I don't get stuck at a plateau. It has worked for the last 50 lbs and I hope it works for the next 100.

I want to thank Dr. Goldberger, a very special doctor that I met 20 years ago. He, now retired, was an old school doctor when it came to diets, weight lose, etc... I have gone back to following his advice (diet) and Vicky and I are very happy.

Jogging For Beginners: Shins Hurt
Years ago in the military that was a major problem. Shin splints were a killer. Now that I am walking again, I am having the same problem. To keep it undercontrol, my wife Vicky and I start out as a modest pace, work up to a good clip and then cool down. We do about 1/4 mile warm up, 1.25 mile at a good clip and then about 1/4 to 1/2 mile at a gradual pace to cool down. We walk for about 30 minutes 3 or 4 times a week. This week we purchase a recunant bike and a treadmill so we can continue our routine in the cold, wet north. In a few months the snow will hit and for about 3 months walking outside will not be fun.

We are trying to improve my severe cardiac problems. I hate emergency rooms. 3 time in the last year.

Hello Lady, Welcome to one of the best tracking programs out there.

My wife, Vicky and I are both using it to help us control our diet and exercise. In two months we have lost almost 75 pounds between us. It is great. We only have 150 to go.

Feel free to click on our diets and journals to see what we are doing. If this is the first time you are dieting, then remember, it is not about losing weight, but getting into good eating and life style habits. Exercise (take a walk, brisk) about 30 minutes at least 4 or more times a week. Be honest and document all your caloric intake, and have fun.

If you can't have fun, they it will be a real drag.

One of the REWARDS for Vic and I, is when we lose 10 pounds (either one of us) we splurge by going off diet for 1 or two meals. Did that tonight and it is killing us. We both have upset stomachs and the runs. We are not looking forward to splurging again. It Hurts!

Have fun. If you would like, i buddy request your, if you would like to follow our journey and see how we are doing and the steps we are taking.

I am 97.2 kgs ughhhhhh....!!!!!
Good Morning:

You are free to take a look at my diet, which is the same as Vicky's (my wife's). She is very happy today because she is at 197.4 this morning.

Take a look at the foods we eat. We also list the brands. Our kids are grown with families of their own, so there is just the two of us. Make shopping easier.

With all the resources that we have available to us, we are putting together a life style (diet, exercise, etc...) that we plan on living for the rest of our lives.

We figure that if you CRASH diet, then you will just become a PLUS some extra in the future (it has happen to us alot.)

We are very excited and shocked that we have lost our cravings for over eating. That was unexpected.

Right now our biggest worry is Winter. It get's cold with a lot of snow in the December to March time frame here. So we need an alternative to outside walks and exercises.

We are thinking of a treadmill and maybe an elliptical. We have the room and it would help keep us going in the dog days of Rain, Snow, etc...

My wife, Vicky and I invited a friend of hers over for lunch. I had about 20 minutes to put together a quick meal (it was the first time for her to eat over ).

So I reached in the fridge and freezer and put together BBQ chicken breast on a bed of rice with carrots, green beans and red peppers (4 mins), peas and carrots (6 min), and BBQ chicken (20 min in oven). I added a bowl of apple slices, w/seedless grapes and fresh strawberries. The whole meal was about 400 cals, balance ad we are all stuffed. I figure the meal cost us about $3.50 a serving.

Vicky just called and said that Sandy was just raving about her lunch. My wife is now the hero of the day at work.

I plan to cook healthy n I just don't realize I spend hours in deciding what to cook that at the and of the time I end up ordering a pizza or some burgers from nearby Smile) LOL !!!!!

Just ordering a pizza or eating burgers and fries was a staple in our house. Now I keep a very wide variety of quick foods in the freezer. A quick trip to the fridge and the microwave has really made for much healthier choices. Vicky and I find that we eat fast food rarely (once or twice a month) and can get right back on diet the next day with no problems.

Also, by having such a variety of healthy choices available, we rarely even want to stray.
