I am a software developer from Calgary Alberta, Canada. I guess the nature of my job makes me live a pretty inactive life. When I was about 17 I was able to lose about 100lbs and went from 265 to 165 over a summer of dieting and growth spurts. I never was hungry and it just worked...

Now I am 32 and it is much harder. I find that my weight stays pretty constant at around 250, but I do realize I actually do not consume that many calories from food. Totally cutting out beer has probably dropped my weekly calorie intake by 25%, which I think is going to help.

I really want to get below 200 again. I don't like being overweight and I was just getting to the point where pants and shirts were not fitting well and after you go above size 38 and 40 where do you go? I want to be able to buy clothes in normal stores. Health wise being where I am is not good. Diabetes runs in my family and I have white coat hypertension which I do not want to evolve into a full blown problem.

I am making changes, and I want to succeed.

Wish me luck!

Chinese Takeout
Anything that doesn't have a batter coating are probably the best options. Steamed rice instead of fried rice. Nothing deep fried.

Just eat in moderation and you can probably get away with a Chinese meal being under 600kcal.

Stupid Cooking Mistakes!
Often forget to turn the rice cooker on, so it will be ready when the rest of the food is. Nothing like waiting another 20 minutes when everything else is done!

Scale issues
I have found most consumer level electronic scales are garbage. They do not need to be accurate in regard to actual weight, but they do need to be consistent in reporting what they are interpreting. Most of the ones I have tried are not consistent at all and fluctuate all over the place during weighing.

Not sure what the best option is, but mechanical scales seem to be the way to go.
