Believe it or not, this is not my photograph, but one of my beloved dog Mitzi. And of course my name is not Glaun, but Phil and my photo is somewhere else on my Fatsecret page. The name Glaun is my computer Gaming name. For those of you who game, I am most fond of MMRPG games and usually play them multi boxed.

I have been retired for 20 years now. My last job (if you want to call it that, really it was a 5 year extended vacation) was as a ski instructor in Park City UT. I met my current bride there and now live in Carefree AZ. Yes, the life style here is all in the name of our town.

I have three adult children, two grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

My wife and I live by ourselves (plus critters) and love to travel. I have lived in several countries around the world and have traveled a lot. My primary loves in life are travel, Skiing, Scuba, and Flying. When forced to work, my primary vocation was law.

That is when I joined FS. As you can see, it has been slow and steady for me. 1/2 to 1 pound a week. I figure with my new diet and exercise program I will reach my goal of 193 lbs by December, 2013. (I am 74 inches tall)

So there you have it. I am glad to be in the company of so many who have the same goals as I. Good luck to us and as I read somewhere, "God bless us, everyone".

(2015) Update It has taken longer than expected but I reached my goal of 193 somewhere around 10/2014. A series of events hit me and for a few months I gained weight until I reached 201. A dive trip called to me in 06/2015 and I again resumed FS in earnest. I have lost 5 lbs and should make 193 by dive time. At the same time I will hit the unheard of age of 82. What a grand life!

Need help tracking calories in loaf of bread
A bread can be broken down into individual components, ie 6 oz flour, 1 cup butter, etc. You can easily find the calorie count of the components and add them to get a good approximation of the final food.

I do like the Moroccan breads and foods.I have had several chances to eat there in the past, and I am looking forward to October when I will be visiting your country for a couple of weeks.

By the way, your English is quite good.

Addicted to Coffee with creamer every morning!
I figure one addiction at a time. Creamers are a small deal, so don't get rid of them until you food addiction is under control. Just don't add a third real addiction such as sugar.

weight time
Perhaps it is a matter of some math. First you need to know your RDI. This is the number of calories you need to stay at the weight you are at. This program will do that for you or google RDI. Then know that one pound = 3500 calories. So for every 3500 calories you eat less than your RDI you lose one pound. Since 3500 is too big a chunk of calories for one day, reduce your daily RDI by 500 and in 7 days you should lose about a pound.
Now you can figure how long it will take to lose a fixed amount of weight and calendar it out.
Warning. Most of us have learned that long term goals will work according to the above. By long term I mean months or years.

How can I manually enter a total Calorie count for a meal?
Jocko T idea was one I used for a while and it did work. Here is a second "ungainly" idea.
Go to the section where you can enter new meals. Then create several new meals. Call the first one 25 Calorie Meal. The second 50 Calorie Meal. The third 100 Calorie meal. If you need to you could break these down to lessor or greater amounts. Then for each of the numbered meals add foods that add up to the total calories of the name of the meal. Or you could do it for the entire day.

I quickly gave up on this since my limited sense of order was disturbed by the listing of food I have never eaten, even tho the total calory for the day was correct.

Carbs, Cal., Fat, protein
I'll suggest that you read back thru the posts in this forum. Go over the last couple months at least. You ask a basic question and there are many suggestions at what to try and how to do it. Also read the FAQs at the bottom of page. Part of a long term diet is learning, which you can achieve here. Good luck
