Believe it or not, this is not my photograph, but one of my beloved dog Mitzi. And of course my name is not Glaun, but Phil and my photo is somewhere else on my Fatsecret page. The name Glaun is my computer Gaming name. For those of you who game, I am most fond of MMRPG games and usually play them multi boxed.

I have been retired for 15 years now. My last job (if you want to call it that, really it was a 5 year extended vacation) was as a ski instructor in Park City UT. I met my current bride there and now live in Carefree AZ. Yes, the life style here is all in the name of our town.

I have three adult children, two grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

My wife and I live by ourselves (plus critters) and love to travel. I have lived in several countries around the world and have traveled a lot. My primary loves in life are travel, Skiing, Scuba, and Flying. When forced to work, my primary vocation was law.

For 20 years, I was very lean and worked out daily at the gym. After I married this last time I did the typical retired thing, ate, slept and sat in my chair. I put on 30 pounds and got into terrible physical shape.

A couple of years ago we went to Kathmandu, Nepal to climb the Hillary trail part way up to Everest base camp. That almost did me in. I then realized how bad a shape I was in. My wife came to me and said she was concerned about the shape I was in. So she made me an offer I couldn't refuse. Get back to the weight and shape I was in when we first met and she would take me to Palau for a week of diving.

That is when I joined FS. As you can see, it has been slow and steady for me. 1/2 to 1 pound a week. I figure with my new diet and exercise program I will reach my goal of 193 lbs by December, 2013. (I am 74 inches tall)

So there you have it. I am glad to be in the company of so many who have the same goals as I. Good luck to us and as I read somewhere, "God bless us, everyone".

finally made it
I agree with wholefoodnut. You lost a lot and quite fast. Here is the bad news about loosing weight. You have arrived at the time when you really have to start watching your calories, and it will have to be forever. Loosing the weight was the easiest part. Now the real work begins. I would suggest you Google search three or more web sites for your RDA. Average them out to get the maintenance RDI and subtract a 100 or so calories. See how that works for the next eight weeks. Best of luck. I am within a couple pounds of having to do what I just advised you to do. Best of luck to both of us.

Health Sidekick
Healthsidekick sounds really good. Maybe you could help with these two issues. 1) How do you up load from FS to HSK? I have been keeping an accurate calorie count on FS for a year but I don't know how I would upload it to another program. 2)It appears that I would have to enter my daily calories into two programs on a daily basis. Do you know of any way to make this a one step affair?
Until then, I think I will just knock of the 10 to 14% error factor from the FS RDi. Thanks for your post about HSK.

What inspires you to "keep on truckin" in your weight loss journey?
While it may be true, Wholefoodnut, that this is a resurrected 2013 thread, it still has interest to some of us. Glad you enjoyed it.

"Sticking by the rules". You hit it on the nail, crimson. Be it gastric surgery, Atkins, Weight Watchers or CICO, all you have to do is stick with the rules. It doesn't matter which road you choose. You did good. Gratz!
