I was an avid gym guy about 6 years ago when I met my wife. Three years into our relationship, we got married. After marriage and the addition of 4 kids to my life, working out was an AFTERTHOUGHT. Pre-marriage, I was a muscular 210lbs. As of this past July vacation, I was a "happy" 237lbs. When I went in to see my doctor and inquire as to what I needed to do to get off of my high blood pressure medicine, she deadpanned, "lose 40lbs". "Seriously?", I asked. It was that simple. From that day on, I challenged myself to "do it". As of today, I'm back to that same 210lbs, but with a different mentality. I eat MUCH healther-six years later-than I did before. I'm much more cognizant of portion control...calorie counting...cardio exercise...and what NOT to eat. At this very moment, my goal is to shed another 10-12 pounds so that I can see the abs that I've been missing since 8th grade. My pant size, in these 5 months of commitment, has decreased from a 38" to a 34". And even the 34"s are starting to get a little loose. I've not been a 32" since high school and at this rate, it looks like I've relive that moment fairly soon. I try to keep my protein intake at 1 gram for every bit of my body weight. I also try to keep my calories-on average-at 2000 per day. With all that being under control and now a normal behavior for me, my focus is my daily fat intake. I'd like to keep that at less than 90 grams per day. I'm determined to accomplish the rest of this journey...I'm looking forward to seeing myself on the other side of it!
