Penlan's Journal, 08 January 2017

Ah, to be expected.

My pal's big blue van passed the mot on Friday. She is a good workhorse and it is good to know she will be available to cart my stuff for another year. So, of course we celebrated.

I guess the main damage was the gin. There was an alarming amount of air in the bottle when I washed up yesterday morning... seems I may have had 200ml or more :) . Though the peanuts probably did more damage. I struggled to accept they were so horrid, and kept going back to see. They need to be banned.

Oh, now I remember. I just *had* to make some cheesecake topping in a glass, to demonstrate to my pal how delish it is. The easy option was to clear the open tub of cream cheese to go with a new one. Full fat of course. Whoops, that 500ml tub of double cream wasn't supposed to slip out so fast, no matter, whipped up it all combined. Juice of 3 lemons and a whopping 3 teaspoons of sugar.... so not too carb loaded.

Only 2 squares of 80% chocolate. I was a good girl.

As I write it starts to come back..... see, Gordons gin is very different from the ones I have, so we had to compare side by side the Hurtas 40% and the Rambla4l Mediterranean gin, also at 40%. More air in those bottles too.... And we weren't sure how the co-op own label Irish cream faired against Baileys. In a word, poorly, don't bother.

Cripes, I sound like a hard core dypsomaniac! I am not, at all, though it was good to let go and giggle. One thing we did, was giggle. A lot. I can see why it is so attractive, alcohol!

Yesterday morning I was not at all hungover. Though to bed gone 2, I was up at 8.45, sweeping and mopping the floor before washing up and clearing the debris from the night before. Maybe I was still tiddly. I was tired, to be expected, but no bad head, guts, or temper! I won't be indulging like that again in a while though as the weight took a huge reversal.

Hoping that being kind to myself now and eating properly will soon get things back on track. I woke the carb monster, and had a whole 40g bar of sickly sweet chocolate in short shrift. That'll learn me, I can't face it now at all. Today brekkies was normal for me. Celery, kale, sprouts, cauliflower, cooked in drioping and red wine, with cheese and a yellow pepper garnish. What? I love it! Best meal of the day, breakfast, especially at lunchtime (rofl).

I truly hope I can settle soon and there are no more celebrations. I have 5 weeks till the next. A birthday, not Valentines!

Let's see if this attempt saves, the last disappeared.......

I am definitely going to say "There was lot of air in the bottle." Properly made me chuckle. Good luck getting back on track :P xx

Everyone seems to have their literary heads on today! What joys these journal entries are to read. I agree with Jo - "a lot of air in the bottle" is soon to become a well used phrase 😜

For less than a 2 lb gain? I'd settle for that any day of the week. Sounds like a great night.
