Week one down, and I've lost 8.6 pounds. I have acupuncture this afternoon... My knee has been grinding and in pain lately. Hopefully he can get it back into shape so I can start working out again. Swimming and my free weights are fine for now, but I feel myself getting restless. I miss being able to weight train and do squats and lunges.

Either way, here's to week two of healthy eating and swimming vigorously daily.

Hey- I have been away from dieting for a while, restarting after losing meniscus in my right knee. Need to drop the weight and build up my quadriceps to compensate.. How much swimming are you doing in a day? Also, are you just paddling or are you doing something more complex? thanks.

How do you like acupuncture ? First person I went to was great , love it and I felt fantastic after each treatment But it was very expensive . So I found another person lots cheaper but did nothing for me. So I stopped ........ So curious about you and your acupuncture How is it working for you? I know the price has nothing to do with it It's the person behind the needle Hope it's working for you

I swim for 30-60 minutes each day, at least 5 times per week (I generally swim daily). I'm trying to rebuild the muscles in my quad and calf so my ACL and MCL tighten back up and support it. What I do is swim over to the deep end and tread water with JUST my feet for 10-30 minutes. I cross my arms or put them behind my back and then use just my legs to keep my head above water. I vary my stride width (very fast short paddles with my feet, to long slow strides with my entire leg) every 5 minutes or so. No arms allowed really motivate you to keep your head above water and keep kicking. Once my legs are exhausted, I'll swim from one end to the other and just lap until my workout is complete. I do a front stroke one way, and then when I reach the other end of the pool, I do a back stroke, kicking my legs the whole time to keep those muscles moving. I try to tighten my arm muscles as I stroke to make sure they're getting the full effect of the workout as well.

My acupuncturist is wonderful. He's a touch expensive, but I find the price so far to be worth it. I've always had crappy knees, and I enjoy that I can pinpoint the pain to him, and then he causes me relief for several days after every appointment. This will be my third appointment, and because he is also a Western medicine doctor, he helps me to make sure that any other issues I'm having are also in order.
