The VA Bariatric Doctor scheduled me for a Bone Density Test next week. She thinks at the rate I am losing weight I am losing bone mass. I have not noticed any problems and I'm taking all the daily vitamin supplements she prescribed. I have lost close to 80 pounds in last 5 1/2 months and that is faster than normal for not having surgery.

My Doctor asked me about all the changes in my life that have taken place since losing the weight. I told her on the physical side I could not list them all. When I walk it is like walking on air and I have so much energy. I sleep so well and have so much mobility. On the mental side, It feels like I am becoming clean freak. The slightest amount of dirt on my carpet bothers me. The kitchen and bathroom is spotless. When I walk and see trash on the ground I have this urge to pick it up, but usually don't.

Even though I usually walk 90 minutes/day I wanted to do some cardio to raise my heart rate. She advised against it because of possible injury. She told me weight loss is getting to the top of a mountain. Everyone wants to get there quickly. Some take the winding road up the mountain and takes longer but is much easier. Others try a fast slippery slope and usually injure themselves and wind up farther down the mountain than where they initially started. What I am doing is working and if it is not broke don't fix it.

Wow you are doing great. It is hard for many people to keep motivation and routine like you do. You are also seeing amazing results. I disagree though...walking is the best low impact form of exercise. It is essential to human health and how we were meant to move. I don't know your health history but it would surprise me if walking could impact you negatively. Runners are more prone to injury. If you were running everyday I would say that is to much on your body...chronic cardio is bad for anyone. Walking? No one can get enough walking!!!! Hopefully you can figure out if your bone density is actually low. But exercise and healthy eating with the right supplements can fix bone density problems. Keep up the walking. If it is working for you and you feel amazing..don't stop.
