Djburney's Journal, 05 October 2012

Yay, It's Friday! I've got home projects planned for the weekend, redecorating my newly emptied 3rd bedroom into a cute guest room. Then I will need guests!

This weight-loss thing has become such a way of life for me. You know how they say that you need to make permanent lifestyle changes in order to keep the weight off? I have done that, and I've been doing it so long that the old ways seem far away and this new way of eating is natural for me now. If you are just starting out, or trying to get back into it, know that the mental change can happen for you if you give it enough time. Some say it takes 30 days to change habits, I'm of the mind that it takes much longer than that for change to really stick. I'm going to find a new book about changing habits to read this weekend. Any suggestions?

Have a great weekend, my FS friends. You're comments and support are very much appreciated!

I love Fridays! my hubby works M-Th, so Fridays are his first day off of 3...no plans for tonight, but really looking forward to tomorrow - our town has what is called "Girls Night Out" from 3-8pm - you start at one of 2 businesses, pay $5, and get a goodie bag and a 'passport'...then you walk downtown and stop at all the businesses on the passport, check out their sales (one place last time had free champagne! yum) and just have a good time! we walk down one side of the street and back up the other - at the last stop, you turn in your passport and have a chance at getting drawn for prizes. This is done twice a year, and I really enjoy it! After that, hubby and I are going to listen to a live band at one of the local watering holes. Of course, if any of these businesses are offering free chocolate, I will diligently turn them down - lmao! I'm getting better at the lower carb way of life, but told hubby this morning that I wanted about 8 pieces of toast, lol...but it is getting easier. I'm slowly adding in things, like occasional fruit, so the weight loss is slowing but it's still happening - so we perservere!

Kmkjmomma (what is your name!) that sounds like such a fun event! I love doing stuff like that, and what a great way for businesses to promote themselves. How big is your town? They do things fun in the Northwest, I went to Portland Saturday Market last month and it was great! A comment on eating fruit...even a small amount of it can bring back my carb cravings, I have to be very careful about the fruit I eat. Strawberries and apples seem to have the lowest effect on me, oranges aren't too bad, but give me some grapes or bananas, and cravings raise their ugly heads! Mom2Boxers, I am very excited that you accepted my buddy request! Your have a great journal, and I'm going to go through it and read past posts that you have written.

What I would give for a "proper" guest room. Ours is a combo room. You can have so much fun with that. I am with you. New WOE since June and I am comfortable with the changes now. I am adding more changes every day - like now trying to figure out more protein options. Have a great weekend.

Oh geez DJ... you are so nice. I have my moments and then sometimes I am not so inspired. Thank you. It's nice to be friends. :)

I think you are so right about the number of days required to change a habit. A period much longer than 30 days seems necessary. Keep up the great work! Have fun with your projects!
