diehard3's Journal, 22 August 2018

I had a successful weekend. I am giddy that I lost another pound. It really has given me a lift. I seem to be a yo-yo dieter. I walk every day and play golf once a week. Soon I will be bowling twice a week. We are enjoying the cool weather here in the Ozarks. this has been the rainiest and coolest August I can remember in the 18 years we have lived down here. I feel for the folks out west that are dealing with the drought and wild fires. I hope they get some much needed rain soon.

I'm in the Willamette Valley in Oregon; we are getting heavy smoke in our air from all the fires up and down the Pacific Coast. The air quality is awful, which is very unusual for us. It's very irritating to my throat and nose, feeling just like bad seasonal allergies. That said, it is supposed to improve with lower temperatures and possibly some rain later this month. This is the driest and warmest summer on record in my town.

God bless those in the fire situation. I can't imagine having lost everything and have to start all over. I will pray that they get some good rain very very soon.

I'm in Utah and the air is pretty bad here too! I'm trying not to complain though, because I know some folks in California and Nevada who have it even worse. Hope it clears up soon!

Yes, the fires are a tragedy. I'm in Oregon and getting smoke from both South and North. My heart goes out to all the fire victims.

I avoid thinking or reading about the fires because all I can think about is the animals. It has been hot and muggy in Ontario all summer and we have fires here and in BC too. I am a yoyo dieter. I have regained every single pound I lost since I started my diet marathon October 14, 2013. My goal is to restart on October 1st this year. Making sure the cupboard is bare of goodies and all my social obligations have been met and are behind me. I need a clear run with some success before Christmas. I know I can get through Christmas without cheating...if I can get settled in the groove and see some results before then. A pound lost is a great motivator for me, a pound gained and I am in danger of backsliding.
