lol Buffy - I have had so many plans too! What happened to your exercise room?? I have now drawn up a calendar showing Sundays to Thursdays only and I'm just putting a red cross over the days I do exercise - my aim is just to get as many red crosses as possible, as it seems when I make a plan to do something on specific dates, then something happens and I can't and then I give up for weeks - so this way no pressure just aim for as many as possible....we'll see how it goes.....

Tracy - I got more exercise creating the exercise room that I ever got in the exercise room. I may need to steal your calendar idea.

Steal away Buffy - it's the same for me, I moved everything into the dining room, which I will add here that I have to walk through all the time as it connnects my kitchen and bathroom to the rest of the house, but I have still managed to blinker all the workout stuff for the last month.

I do what Triaby does. I X out the days I have evercised. I try for at least 3 days a week. Sometimes I'll get in 5 or 6. Just depends on what is happening in my world that week. I obviously am not a huge exerciser. Usually just 25-30 minutes on my elliptical with the hope that some day my thighs won't look like sloppy jello.

So what do you have in your exercise room ? Determination, and making the time for you to exercise are the first two steps, especially making the time for yourself are the hardest, then find what you like to do :)

I keep track of my excercise too, I use a dry erase board & jot down what I did each day, I find it very motivational since I keep it on the fridge where Everybody can see. Most visitors comment on it & ask what it's for. When my board is full I take a pic of it, erase & start over. Each board holds 5 months, July 2012 I started my 7th!

Well, Buffy, I'll give you a break. You DID set up a room. You HAVE given some serious thought to how to fit it in. And....you HAVE tweaked your food intake which has paid off in pounds lost. Plus...let's not forget all that mulch spreading and other gardening you've done. So all in all, you're doing great. (And....don't tell anyone, but Taubes and others say exercise for weight loss is not the be-all and end-all that so many people say it is. Great for heart health and mental outlook, sure, but not so much for weight loss. Shhhh....don't tell anyone.)

Notfast - All I have is my elliptical, my floor mat and some hand weights. But that is plenty for a beginner like me.

GG - Guess if I displayed it in public I'd have to own up to it!

Sandy - You are so sweet to take it easy on me. And, as for Mr. Taubes, I couldn't agree more! But I know I need the health benefits of it and sure wouldn't mind a Brazilian Butt (dream on Buffy).

OK I was very nervous googling "Brazilian Butt" - but did and wow I want one too!! Heather you are the expert....just how many squats would I have to do??????

Tracy - sorry I made you nervous.

Brazilian Butt and I will never be used in the same sentence. ;^) Exercise is definitely important for health, it helps you sleep better, get rid of stress, be more flexible, etc. etc. But it really doesn't help a whole lot with weight loss. Weight loss is about 90% diet and 10% exercise, so it's still important, but not as important as what you're eating. There's an old saying that goes "you can't out-exercise a bad diet." Don't forget all the things you do on a daily basis that gets you moving ... walking, gardening, climbing stairs, housework, it all counts! Exercise doesn't have to be in a gym or a special room to work.

Carol - I realize what you are saying. When I used to belong to a gym I'd gain weight because it made me hungry and used up some of my food prep time - so I ate unhealthy food and more of it. But I haven't given up yet!

Just saw this. I think I'd be nervous giggling Brazilian Butt too. Tracy, something tells me that'd be a Jess question. LOL. Buffy, it's never too late to start. What weights are your free weights?
