Hallie_Ann's Journal, 24 March 2018

Did alright for calories, but not for quality. Tried a hike but high winds and dust made it unpleasant. I'd like to get back to weight lifting but don't have the equipment diversity at home. There is a gym run by the city or we have a workout room at work. Possibilities! I'm looking into it this week.

I have an old Bowflex that I got for free, years ago. They're easy to find either cheap or free on Craigslist. They're also very light weight compared to the traditional route. Just a thought. Also, mine is the power pro, which had been recalled for safety, long ago. I called them & explained that I had gotten it second hand & they said no problem. They sent me the retrofit kit at no charge, even though I hadn't bought it from them. Good people over there.

I went to my work gym. It was convenient, inexpensive and very accessible. It easily became part of my daily routine and it certainly helped the stress! Sorry to hear about the dust!

I had a bowflex and my "darling" furkids ate the padded seat! *LOL*

The fitness craze is like dieters, many who jump on give up and get out. I bought a ton (maybe 1/2 ton) of weight plates, dumbbells, bench... for pennies on the dollar, bought a 50 lb dumbbell for $5. What I have for over three years now has already saved me a ton of cash. Tomorrow I will be purchasing my most expensive purchase yet, two 50 lb plates for $50. Plus I save gas and time by doing it all at home, not to mention greater focus without all the distractions at the gym. I went to the gym once and my ADD had my mind everywhere, and my performance dropped like 40%. Fitnessblender, com has endless free workout routines for people at any stage and level of fitness.

Hallie_Ann-I understand about the fur babies! I bought a foam mat to do floor exercises on and have to put it away in a closet. If I leave it on the floor for just 5 minutes the cats will claim it as their own, rolling all over it, mimicking my exercises and then use it as a scratching post. And the dog will just start chewing it!

I bought a used treadmill years ago and have several different levels of hand weights. I have a Crossbow (it's a generic Bowflex, half the cost). My hubby just mounted our den/workout room TV to the wall, which gives me more space and I can do an exercise video much easier now, to change things up. Lot easier at home and don't waste time driving. I don't like working out around other people, either!

Try the gym at work nothing states better than free and no long time commitments. I started a few weeks ago at our gym at work and it is all I need to get in a great workout and also to relieve the tension after work before going home to my husband. I think he appreciates it also :)

I'm with you, LSG417. I bought a treadmill many years ago and use it daily from 30 minutes to an hour. I like to watch game shows which makes workout go faster. I'd be lost without it.
