Are we totally crazy? punishing our bodies with exercise that pushes muscles and in turn making them hurt. Back at the gym after several months of little exercise due to health issues, dang my upper legs hurt! I feel like I'm walking like the old granny I am, not like the person I usually am. I figure it's a good pain and that I pushed a little too hard. ;) I so want to get back to a sane exercise routine, I miss it.

Plans were to go to the gym after work but it was 72 degrees when I left work. Decided to do somethings outside instead. Well the timing wasn't great by the time I made it home the strong cold wind started and knocked the temps down. It feels dang cold out there. Well maybe gym tomorrow if I get the all clear from the doc. Have to go set a membership up no matter what as it is the last day of their special. Gym bag is in the car.

Tomorrow is the steroid injection into cervical discs. Hope it kills the neck and headache pain. Thursday after work a physical therapy eval. I'm hoping for some specific answers to what I can and can't do and what will help this disc issue.

Well off to make some pasta sauce with hot Italian sausage. GD said she would like it---as she says she is a very picky eater. As she is learning to cook though she is getting a bit more adventurous. About 1/3 pound of sausage will make many servings and can be easily frozen for quick meals. She is working evenings so it would be there for her to heat up before or after work.

I did yoga Saturday and am crippled. This getting old isn't special at all. Hope your injections help.

Hubby and I love walking on holiday but it cripples me - I ache all over. Partly because I don't do enough of it at home and partly due to osteoarthritis and, of course, aging. I've been taking cats claw supplement so I'll see how I do on holiday this time.

Oh - good luck with the steroid injection tomorrow!

Thanks Doobrie. Hope you enjoy your holiday. Walking is good I am working at getting back to more of it. I really miss my fitbit. My DD the one whose DD is staying with me told me not to buy one they had one that they never use. MMMM Have to mention it to Chyann maybe today as I'm sure Mom forgot. She is going home tomorrow since she is off as she drove her Mom's truck back as her car has some issues and is being repaired.

Good luck with getting back into the exercise! I empathise with your pain more than I wish! LOL 😆 @Doobrie let us know how the Cat’s claw works out? I take alpha lipoic acid for some of the inflammation issues and arthritis and avoid nightshades, but I kind of miss tomatoes in my diet. ☹️

Sondra - I refuse to give up the nightshades. I love them. I'll put up with arthritis to eat them - lol!

I won't give up any of the veggies I love. I have been taking turmeric and it seems to be making a difference. Exercise also does wonders though I haven't been able to do much lately. I can really tell the difference.

The more you exercise the more your body will adapt to the stimulus and over time pain will lessen

Deadpool, I was rather an exercise addict for several years; I love it; my body loves it. Health issues rather stopped my normal routine for a while and are still messing with it. So trying to get back into a routine with limitations. I have 3 blown discs in my neck. Physical therapy eval is tomorrow so will have more guidance on what I should and should not do. My regular doc recommended water exercise and banned me from my TRX for now; my grand-daughter and I just joined a gym with a pool. Have to cancel my other membership -- like the gym but no pool. If ok'd by the therapist I will go to the water exercise classes next week. Exercise right now is nothing with my arms or upper body.

Ah I gotcha. Well just be careful really, it sounds like water exercise for now would be a good option especially with the neck injuries, that way the water can act as some support as well on your joints etc. while still providing resistance but in a safer manner than TRX. seems like a safe idea until you and your medical advisors deem it safe to go back to regular gym stuff.

That's the plan. I already have a cervical fusion done in 2001 so have been on a similar journey before. I do not want surgery again so will do everything I can t avoid it.

I take the turmeric as well. @deadpool there are some peple for whom exercise is only goodto a certain point. I’m one. I wake up in the best shape, pain-wise I will be all day. As I exercise, more of my nerve endings fire 🔥 and set off throughout my body. One in ten of the people with fibromyalgia react this way. The other nine feel better after they exercise. 🤷🏻‍♀️So while it helps my muscles, mobility and joints, it cripples me with nerve pain and I walk a fine line between the two. Not everyone reacts the same. I have learned to ignore a great deal of pain, but when the nerve pain sends the muscles into spasms it is self defeating. 💁🏻‍♀️That’s the point everyone wants to avoid if possible. LOL I just get there way sooner than some. 🤷🏻‍♀️Good luck at the PT WFN and let us know how it goes! 🙋🏻

SMprowett, fibro is such a weird condition and acts differently with so many people. Someday maybe they will figure out what causes it why it stays mild with some and progresses so much with others. They have shown with many exercise helps but not all. I also need to build cardio back up slowly due to asthma but I know how to cope with that after all these years.

I think the thing that upsets me is the fact I used to do serious exercising also.... like WFN and am so limited. Even walking. I will listen to my body with exercising, but will continue to push on with walking. Have to use my treadmill which is wonderful.
