Is everyone enjoying this holiday weekend? I am :-) Started the process of opening my pool, let's see if it is easier than closing. I still need to drain some water off the cover and that will take some time. At the same time I am filling the pool up since I had lowered the water below the skimmer. While the water is running out and in I will meet with some friends for a hike and hopefully when I come back I will be able to fix the pump and filter and remove the cover. Can't wait for that step to be done with, the most trickiest one. But I am so looking forward to warmer weather and fun time in and around the pool.

Jozette...good luck with the pool opening. We closed ours ourselves for the first time last year, and this year when we opened it, it was nice and clear. Last year and the year before, we paid a small fortune to have it closed and when we opened it, it was the color of pea soup! They simply weren't putting the right amount of chemicals in before they closed it. We will be doing it ourselves from now on. Enjoy the hike, and enjoy the pool!! :)

Wow - you do that yourself? I thought you were supposed to have a pool boy or something?

I would not mind having a cute pool boy around but the company who did it last year charged me more than $500. I am going to save it this year. I closed it, which seems to be a lot more difficult as I can see so far, I can open it as well :-)

Jozette, you can absolutely take care of it all yourself! Put aside the saved money for new clothes!

Sandy, of course I can do this. Pool is open, water looks good, way better than last year. Just a few leaves, they must have slipped in while I was closing. Now I am waiting for the water to fill up all the way to the skimmer. Put the filter and pump in order and hopefully in the morning I can run it and everything works fine :-)Then I will get to the chemical part and the summer can begin.
