BuffyBear's Journal, 18 May 2012

Have been wondering if it makes any difference what weight loss plan is chosen for ones FS profile. As you may know, I am doing this eclectic blend of reduced carbohydrates, calories and low glycemic while trying to eat healthy. Do any of you have an opinion if my status of "Atkins" is confusing? Does anyone even care?

As for my diet, I think I am finally getting the hang of this self-imposed 1,400 calorie limit. I now see why so many of you have "indulgence days" LOL.

Happy Friday!

I loved an indulgence day, but they soon became indulgence weekends...EEK Doesn't work for me! But then again, either does 1400 calories. hehe hence my plan to work out everyday!

Hey Buffy - I think it is important you find what is right for you and that it fits in with your life - that is the only way you can continue with it for the rest of your life. If you have to eat special foods, or food you don't particularly like, or food which is different from your family, I can't see how you will keep it up in the long term. So if it is healthy, feels right for everyone and is working - Go for it!!

Hey What happened to your picture???

I didn't like Adkins because it always made my stomach hurt. I have since just moved to a limited calorie diet. I think it's easier than having to calculate points or avoid certain foods. I can eat pretty much anything, within reason. If I am going to eat pizza at a party I just have to make sure to only eat a couple pieces and eat lighter meals during the day to make up for the bigger dinner. It helps a lot to wake up every day with a plan!

No it doesnt really matter what you call it. You are doing close to Atkins OWL. And you are doing what so many of us are doing, trying to find a healthy doable way of eating, something we can live with, that will enable us to lose some weight and inches. I think what you are doing is what i am trying to do too, except my calories goal is 1500-1600 right now. Thanks for all your support. :) have a great day, and a wonderful weekend!

Lindsay - I can see how one "indulgence" can lead to another! LOL

Tracy - I switched to a different picture software on my home computer that FS doesn't seem to like. Will try saving the photos as jpeg's. Maybe get around to it this weekend.

Buffy I think your WOE is called Buffy's choice..and thats the way it should be..cause not one plan works for all..like traiby says you have to adjust things for your life style..I can't have a set time to eat as for last night we ate at 7:30pm cause we were to busy ealier..although we were both starving..but we did eat good..no bread..LOL..Stay with what is working for you girl..its already working for ya...:O)

Fish - I understand that everybody is different. Because of my blood sugar levels I will always have to eat Low Glycemic (or start shooting insulin). BTW- I love what you said about "waking up every day with a plan" - got to write that one on my refrigerator!

Owsley - Thanks - that is the way I see it too. And let me tell you, this 1400 cals is killing me - but it does seem to be working.

Bren - I like that! Sounds like a good title for a book - maybe I should try to make some money off this! LOL

Hey, Buffy, I thought you were following Atkins...seems to be Atkins OWL to me! lol I agree with the others, go with what works for you. Doesn't matter what it's called. So, I guess what I am saying is no it doesn't confuse me. lol Have a great weekend!

Buffy, I think the only difference it makes is that people on like diets associate with you. I think you're doing really well and eating smart. Tracy's right; we're ready for a new pic.

I don't think it matters which "diet" we follow or what we call it, we're all striving for the same goal....to lose weight. No matter how you do it, it has to be what you can do. I really don't think anyone cares what you call you WOE as long as you're here.

Stef - Bet you don't confuse too easy!

Heather - not as smart as you but I'm working on it. I like to eat dead animals - gag - that sounds gross!!!

Thanks Davidsmom - I just didn't want to offend any true Atkins believers.

Heather - BTW - That was my point. I was thinking of someone new who happened across my journal and read some of my comments. Would they think - this isn't Atkins?

Makes no never-mind. If you're worried about confusing any newbie, you can always do like I did which was to put a little blurb in my bio. In any event, even newbies have a responsibility to know their plan, as it's written in the book or portrayed in the tutorials, and follow it. As we go along, we personalize it, which is as it should be.
