I tried to watch my calories and carbs very closely yesterday because I promised my hubby that we could eat at the buffet once a week. Buffet day will be on Saturday. Buffets are hard for me but hubby loves buffets and it is not fair to him if I refuse him this pleasure. I don't like to send him out to eat by himself.

Making the right food choices when you go out is harder, what i do when i go to buffet places i try and look at all the food as calories..and i try to pick stuff ive ate at home..that way i kno the calories in my head or close to it..you will do fine..eating out in public is a challenge, but one you can conquer..way to go..

You can still make good choices at a buffet and consider it high calorie day. Later in the week make up for it with a low day. Try to get that chart to point downwards again. You are doing a great job!

I agree with my two good buddies above!! Push a ton of water on these days and the following day. I'm not sure about you, but I noticed that I usually swell the next day due to all of the sodium that is in the buffet foods. I recommend eating a good protein snack before leaving so that you won't be so hungry when you get there, and you can focus on the veggies there and lower fat proteins. Drink a ton of water for 2 days and then get in 10 mins extra of walking or exercise to help it move on out! :) You can do it!

I think drinking boiled water would be effective-for the appetite, and the circulatory system!

Buffet's are difficult for me too. Most of them have foods that you can eat and stay on program BUT the question is will we eat the right foods. I sometimes have a cup of soup before I go to dinner-- it helps.

I have found buffets dont do me well because of all my food intolerances/allergies. I never knew before doing SB exactly how many foods bother me. I don't do well with preservatives either. My one tme going to a buffet and TRYING to eat what I knew was allowed, I gained 4 pounds in the next two days afterwards! I didn't even cheat that I knew of! I call it "mystery ingredients". Unless you stick to the things that you know every single ingredient, you never know what you're eating. I say kudos to anyone who can go and do well at a buffet. If you can have simple meats and salad with red wine vinegar I'll stick to that! Maybe next time I'll stand in line over and over again for the steak! Yummy! Hope it went well.

I've tackled the buffett's fairly well. I don't even look at the desserts if I can help it. Avoid eye contact with desserts! Then I look for the beef (cut away any fat), fish that is not breaded/fried,etc. Sometimes my plate is all fish and beef. There are tomatoes and good things on the salad bar and you can ask for oil and vinigar if its not setting out. there's usually cheese on the buffet too and a couple pieces of mozzarella is good. I also make sure I had a decent lunch/snack before I hit the buffet, don't go hungry. You can do it.. just make up your mind to stay on track! Let us know how you do, ok

Maybe you can order off the menu even though they have a buffet - some restaurants let me do that - also avoid that Japanese restaurant in Cape Canaveral everything is LOADED with oil and butter!
