cheerfulviolet's Journal, 19 March 2012

I had been debating about weighing in at all, because I knew that my diet was way off for the past 10 days or so. (It was a period of planned semi-indulgence for my birthday, a Spring potluck at work, St Patty's Day, etc.) However, I decided to weigh-in even though I knew it would be higher - accurate record-keeping, right? :)

I suspect some of it is water retention, because I ate more salty stuff than usual in the past few days. Took the kids to see The Lorax this weekend and...gasp...ate real movie theater popcorn. (With butter and salt!) On the bright side, if it is water retention, hopefully that means it will drop easily too. ;)

It's OK though. I firmly believe that you have to be able to indulge within reason once in awhile. So what if I had birthday cake, movie theater popcorn, and a Shamrock shake with the kids to celebrate St Patty's Day? (Not all on the same day...it was over the past week.)

If I eat completely healthy food 95% of the time, then that will still balance out in the long run, and be something that fits more reasonably with a long-term lifestyle change.

hey girl. You're obviously doing something right...you've lost 18 pounds!!! And I think you're right. it's all about variety and giving in occasionally. If we don't give in once in a while, we'll completely go over board with our crazy foods. I didn't do well on Friday. but the rest of the weekend wasn't TOO bad. at least not that I can remember. LOL And I did manage to get out and get some exercise and see the sun. so that's a good thing. and does walking around the grocery store count as "exercise?" LOL The weather was nice this weekend and is supposed to be in the 70's all week. LOVE IT!! no excuses not to get out and exercise this week.

Just read all the journals this morning, it looks like we all did! I am feelin a little down for what I did over the weekend also. But you have to have some fun.

I agree with you - we can't completely deprive ourselves of everything for the rest of our lives! We're changing our lifestyle and that lifestyle has to include some of these things. It's more about finding the balance and learning how much we CAN have. Glad you seem to have a good outlook on your last few days!
