sarah_cook2007's Journal, 08 March 2012

finally my apetite is calming down and I am back in control, Hallelujah! Onederland I really am on my way, pinky swear. I will get there one day! I havent seen the 100's since I was hm.....9 or 10 years old. Wow thats ridiculous but true, and sad. Ready for this weekend. Ill take a pic of me and my boyfriend together and post it in a journal entry next week.

Me and my boyfriend are going to have the whole house to ourselves because my family is driving to west virginia to see my aunt who'se kidneys have shut down and she is on dialysis (spelling?) The doctors said to pray for a miracle that she makes it through this. She is really really bad. Has some sort of infection in her bones and they may have to amputate her feet...

When things like this happen to people I am close to it throws into perspective WHY I am trying to lose my weight. My aunt thats in the hospital is a bad diabetic and over weight and her weight has been a HUGE factor to her being in the condition she is in. I have type 2 diabetis running on both sides of my family. My mom used to have it so bad she was on an inslin pump and she lost 110 pounds (with gastric bypass) and no longer is on inslin at all. She also had glacoma and its better and her heart is better. My mom's dad had it...and he passed away 2 years ago from a massive heart attack. My dad's mom has it and she is in very bad health right now too. If I do not lose weight and get in control of my health it is pretty much carved in slate that i WILL be a diabetic with heart problems as well. Right now I am in great health even considering my weight. Normal blood pressure, normal blood sugar...everything. Sometimes its easy to just see the vanity side of my weight loss journey, but I need to remember this isnt just for looks--this is for ME, for my HEALTH...for my LIFE. I want to live a long fullfilled healthy life.

That's a very good reminder - in the long run, it's about health and fitness, not just appearance.. but hey, it doesn't hurt to look good naked either.. ;) I'm so sorry about your aunt - will keep her in my prayers. My dad's side of the family all have problems with high blood pressure/cholesterol/weight, and it worries me so much.. definitely puts things in perspective.

Glad to hear that you are back in control of your appetite, and well on your way to Onderland. It's also good to see that you have things in perspective, for your weightloss journey. :-) Wishing you continued success, for your weightloss, and sending up prayers for your aunt; that's a heck of a proceedure to have to go through, so I hope she doesn't.

Sorry to hear about your Aunt, that's not good :( I will keep you and your family in my thoughts and prayers as well. On the other hand I'm glad your able to put things back into perspective. It's hard to get back on track sometimes. My family too has diabetes on both sides and it scares the sh*t out of me! It is defiantly a good way to bring things back into perspective and realize just how important losing weight really is, in all areas of our lives. Keep your head up and take it one day, one meal and one pound at a time!

Sometimes it does take a situation like that to make you refocus and recommit to being in a healthier place. I am sorry to hear about your aunt and I hope she is able to pull through. You have been doing great,so just keep up the hard work. It will pay off!

You have a great attitude. keep it up! We can't change the cards we're dealt, just how we play them. My family (dad's side) has a horrible history of heart diease. He was overweight and we didn't find out until his second heart attack - too late. PS - getting to Onederland is a great feeling. Hope you make it here soon!

My prayers are with your family. Keep up the good work and it will pay off. At least you are able to recognize that this is important for your health. Unfortunatly being skinny doesn't mean you are healthy, but being health conscious helps keep the weight under control! Have fun with the BF this weekend!
