After years of dealing with inflammation and fatigue, I stumbled across the ketogenic diet a few months ago. I tried it but did not stick with it. I waffled among vegan, raw vegan, paleo and no diet. There's a lot of that in my history on fatsecret, myfitnesspal, and chronometer.

The symptoms of swollen, inflamed joints, fatigue, dizziness, and brain fog came and went. Then, yesterday, I stumbled across some info on insulin resistance, particularly an article on the UK diabetes society website, and I realized the symptoms really fit me. They had been with me to one degree or another all of my life, but it was about a year ago, when my business began to disintegrate and with it my finances, so that my stress level, which has always been high, skyrocketed. I could not sleep. I overate. I drank too much. Carbs beckoned and I crawled after them--mostly fruit not candy, but still gallons of fructose poured into my gut. My heart pounded and my hands shook from fear of not being able to pay my bills, and then as I could not pay them, my emotions became numb. Through it all, I kept gaining weight and feeling more and more exhausted.

So, here I am hoping that the LCHF way of eating may give me back the energy I need to deal with life.
