@kpwcalories Approx. 320kcal for a little more than a cup, minus sriracha.

Hahaha, love at least should come without calories!

@kpwcalories Nah, considering how much mum tries to feed me, I highly doubt that love is 0 calories :p

I don't think rice is a good diet food.

Different spokes for different folks I guess, personally I eat rice at least once a week. Brown rice, volcanic rice or black rice is high in fiber and keeps you full for a long time. In a blend like this though, I would usually use quinoa, just because it seems to absorb the flavor of whatever you cook it with. Love is totally calorie free... it's the butter and sugar that Mom love is l dipped in that causes the weight gain, haha!

rice is a great staple food, brown has much more nutrition than white and it all can fit in any diet.!

that looks absolutely delicious!

@Jipper500 Tbh it is for me because I'm not a big fan of vegetable and rice helps me to eat more of them. And that meal only contains half a cup of white rice, which is just about enough energy boost for remainder of day.

@Jipper500 Your diet is what your eat. Rice can be/is healthy. Brown rice has many different vitamins/minerals and when paired with beans is a complete protein. Even white rice can be good for an elite athlete who needs a healthy form of fast glucose and high energy carbs. Also, you want a sustainable diet. So many people restrict themselves of foods because they want to loose weight...even healthy foods such as avocados, cheese, nuts, and in this case, rice. They lose the weight, but will gain the weight back once they start eating normally. It is much better to make a lifestyle change then to make simply a diet change. My recommendation is actually to add more food...more veggies, fruits etc, so you may end up eating more healthy foods and less that come prepackaged in a bag. That is my two cents anyway lol @Seywut11 That looks really good by the way! Trader Joe's also sells Japanese Fried Rice which I highly recommend.

@Phoenix84 @Kraftylady I never cook one kind of grain alone. I normally eat a mixture of black, brown, and white rice, barley, and mung beans. It tastes soooo much better than just plain brown or black rice and much, much more fibrous. Quinoa is great substitute too as well as (whole grain) couscous. It's definitely less nutritious than quinoa, but it's delicious. :))

@Wellness5 I only fry my rice when it's about to go stale or there's nothing much to eat with, so I don't think I'd go out and buy packaged fried rice. Is there anything else you'd like to recommend from TJ's though? I'm a big fan of Trader Joe's haha :)

Trader Joe Vanana Yogurt Trader Joe Unsweetened Sunflower Butter Trader Joe Organic Strawberries Trader Joe Chicken Sausage (Jalapeno are my favorite) I could go on...but let me know what you like to eat. I could design you a whole meal plan based on Trader Joe's I go there so often! lol

Thank you for all the interesting comments about rice. While I personally choose to avoid it, I learned some things and I appreciate that. Diets are truly an individual thing and we all have to figure out what works best for us.
