minitata's Journal, 25 May 2017

I've kept on reading nutrition books and then I 'tweak' my diet - and usually put weight on. I've decided that the best thing to do is to stick with the only diet that has ever really worked for me. Low Carb High Fat and IF.

Reading around so much it surprises me just how many similarities the new wave of doctors are working on. It now seems that intermittent fasting is good for gut health, losing weight, lessening the chances of getting cancer, reversing diabetes type 2 and helping with diabetes type 1 and fatigue.

I have fibromyalgia with chronic fatigue syndrome - also described as the same as ME and when I first started fasting I thought I'd found a cure for the fatigue. It's a case of not quite - but where I often returned to lying on the bed sometime between 11 am and 3 pm - and was going to sleep at 6 pm - I'm now going up to sit - not lie - on the bed after 7 pm and stay awake until Tony comes up at about 9.30 pm.

I'm also first up these days. I make breakfast and empty the dishwasher. It's not much but it's more exercise than I've had for 20 years or so. Losing the weight is good, but the changes this way of eating has made to my life goes much, much further - including reversing my type 2 diabetes.

I so agree! 🙆🏻I have all 3 as well as a laundry list of others and don't fast per se at present with the timing on my meds and such, but I used to sleep intermittently throughout every day and now am up with a short nap maybe and whereas I used to be able to function only two or 3 days a week now I only need to rest two or 3 days a week! Huge change!🙋🏻

I take my meds with coffee and cream. It seems to be enough - though one is tramadol which you don't need to eat with.

It's so interesting to read your posts, Mini. I keep forgetting you have major health issues as your writing is so upbeat. I know you're bitterly disappointed with your recent increases but you really have to look at the positives. You're saying you have more energy. You're still below your start weight (which you bobbled around for weeks and weeks!) despite the last two weeks. You've still got it despite recent set backs. You'll get there. Best wishes 🤗

well done! as a fellow chronic disease pateint, with chronic pain and disability, i have these struggles everyday today my aim is to defrost the freezer, something i would have paid someone to do 3 months ago(like ive had professional oven cleaners for 7 years, until this year) i cant physically write well, so keep quite a detailed journal on here. when im having a bad day, i scroll back and take note of all the little victories that she me how i am gradually claimimg my life and some of my health back. set small goals and recoerd when youve achieved them. il never be "healthy" or run for the bus, or lose weight quickly or consistently, but i have to keep reminding myself that im overcoming so many obstacles that it will be slow and frustrating. i feel your frustration, pain and disappointment. but more that that , i see your strength, determination, wilingness to help others, confidence in improving your health and abilty to overcome so many obstacles that life has put in your way. this is a life long journey.. it wil never be a sprint for us, but keep that list of all your achievements in your head, stick to what you know works and youre doing great xx

I only take tramadol if I need it. If I took it daily, I'd be a zombie 😴I don't know how you manage to stay awake with that it your system. Though I think the probiotics and the protein shakes have actually helped me with the chronic fatigue and I know the epsom salt baths are helping with the fibro. I also do melatonin in small doses to regulate my sleep like clockwork for all of it. 🤷🏻‍♀️ Stuff I never would have done 30 or 40 years ago when it started, but I should have. I was too concerned with "having a life," when I should have been concerned with, "having a future!" 💁🏻
