I have to remember that despite having lost 83 pounds so far, I am still 256 pounds. For me, I have to reach 239 pounds before my BMI says that I am out of the morbidly obese category (because I'm only 5'5").

It is much harder to lose 2 pounds per week at this weight, so that's why I've reduced my goal to 1 pound per week. It's achievable, and this time next year I'll be at my goal. I'm sure I could lose more if I tried, but I don't want to change my life too drastically, or I'll quit eating healthy & exercising.

So that's my thought for the day. Off to start working! Have a great day all!

They say realistic goals are more sustainable in the long run and that is what our health is about - the long run. I wish our mothers had been able to teach us this stuff better. But life is a work in progress. You go Brandy! You are doing great!

It's important to keep your goals reachable and sustainable. Eighty-three pounds is a lot. You've come a long way.

Thanks All! I am glad I realized I don't need to do 2 pounds per week. I know 1 pound is slow, but it will get me to my goal in no time! What's a year??!! If I'd started this a year earlier, I'd be at my goal of 199!

You have to remember that the closer you get to your goal, the harder the weight will be to come off. If you're like me and have been heavier most of your life, it will get harder to shed the weight that's been there for over a decade as opposed to the weight I've gained in the past year or two.

That's very true Pretty! I've been overweight all my life, so it's definitely not just difficult to lose the weight that has been with me for so long, but also, difficult to change how I eat, etc.
