LadyinDenim's Journal, 29 October 2016

Tonight I watched an old woman smile at her son, hold his hand, and pet his arm. She is at the end of her life, and there is clarity right at the end. There was so much love there. He didn't know it was the last time. My boss didn't know. I knew, and the woman knew.

This was the last time she would lay eyes on her boy and recognize him. There was a lifetime of love in that gaze.

I am so blessed to see such things. I know babies being born is miraculous. They are so fresh from heaven. But the very old are also near to God. Every kindness we show to the elderly blesses our own spirits.

This is beautiful. When my Mom was at the end of her life I knew that the ladies-nurses and caretakers-who watched over her were very special people. You are, too. Bless you for doing the work that you do, it means everything to your patients and their families.

Lady, thank you for sharing this insight into the loving work that you do. I agree that the angels are bending low as the dying approach. Thank you for sharing this loving image. It touched me and reminded me of my own times of seeing off my parents, filled with love.

I was on the receiving end of the last touch and I can say - somehow it is a different touch. It somehow touches your soul. Without people like you taking care of our loved ones, the process would be much more traumatic. Knowing they are in good hands makes all the difference
