GlennM's Journal, 28 October 2011

Hi everyone. Last night we got wet snow flurries, Saturday we're supposed to get measurable wet snow in the area. No global warming here - we should get the first snow in late November or December. Some fool on the Internet said our cold, snowy winters are because of global warming. We could use it for six months in New England. I do believe the poles are not as cold - North and South - but it's freakin' cold now. Have a good day everyone... time for me to rest a bit... appointment this afternoon. Diet going well...

My sister got snow last night too in Northern NY but they haven't had a killing frost yet. She has flowers in the snow - go figure! Glenn - Stay Warm.

Hi Buffy - we probably haven't had the hard frost either yet. Sure, there may be some global warming, but a degree or so in twenty years or whatever it is in this area in wintertime doesn't make much difference a lot of the time, it still is cold out. It is not like Maine is going to have Florida Keys weather in ten years... anyway, have a good day...

Glenn - according to the scientists of National Geographic, every so often the earth enters into a cooling cycle and we are past due for one. Being the eternal optimist that I am - would like to think that our global warming and next ice age will somehow cancel each other out.

When I was a boy, all the talk was of an Ice Age. None of us are going to be here in 150 years when maybe it's three or five degrees warmer. Sure, by then they will be able to control pollution. Who is going to stop driving? I don't even have a car. And the biggest polluter right now is China and no one is going to tell them what to do. A few big volcanoes blowing off some steam and lava will cool things down well too, it always has in the past... I am not worried about this issue it has little affect on the average person now...

I know what you mean. But of course, would like to think that my grandchildren & future generations will have a life (as we know it).

Buffy - don't worry about it - in say, 150 years mankind will be so evolved and may even be able to alter things a bit. I am sure everyone will be fine... a funny thing I heard was a sermon once at the pastor delivered an address about a man from the year 400 A.D. or so... and the man complained things weren't as good as they used to be in the good old days. I thought that was quite amazing they even had those ideas so long ago. I don't have children, but suspect things will be OK, especially if mankind finds no stupid reasons to have anymore wars. Just think of all the things created in the last 150 years - TV, computers, automobiles, airplanes, the harnessing of electricity for home usage, light bulbs, refrigerators, telephones, toasters, microwave ovens, cars, airplanes, space rockets, home printing machines, calculators, recording devices, radio, the list is endless. Mankind will be OK, and weather changes have always been with us and always will be - it is not something I worry about. I for one am sick of the cold weather and want to live somewhere tropical...

that sermon was documented from one of the lives of one of the Church's early saint's lifetime...

I repeated cars and planes twice by mistake. All these things have made the world a lot easier place to live in, just imagine what may be invented in the next 150 years, when the great grandchildren of those alive now will be around...

Hey, Glenn, hope you have a great weekend, even with the snow!

You too Stef - thanks. My ego is pretty average I'd say - I don't believe this is the last generation - so I really think if God is going to end things He will do it a long time in the future - so he has many, many more children to be in His Kingdom. Good luck to your Cardinals tonight, I hope it's over and they win before I have to go to work tonight...
