Hermiones Mom's Journal, 22 April 2016

Ok, I weighed in at 160.8 this morning, but I am not officially recording it. First off, I'm very dehydrated because I've been having IBS trouble thanks to my delinquent behavior in Iowa and second, I'm going to take a 7-day steroid pack to try to get my allergies under some form of control, and I wouldn't be surprised if by Tuesday when I do my next official weigh-in, I will likely show a gain, if only temporary, from the steroids. Third, my allergies have me so exhausted that I'm barely exercising. Of course, it would be fabulous if I was at 160 on Tuesday, but I am not going to hold my breath -- especially since I can barely breath anyway!

I hope you feel better - being able to breathe is what's really important right now!

HCB -- it's very nice to have the sense that I will be out of the 160s within a couple of weeks -- if not next week, then the week after. Hitting the 150s is a huge milestone for me. I'm actually looking forward to the steroids. Last time I took a pack like this, it was to try to break the inflammation of a trigger thumb. The steroids did nothing at all for my thumb, but all my other aches and pains disappeared completely for several weeks. Oddly, my mom and my sister have always had the same experience: We feel fabulous on steroids, but of course you can't take them very long or very often without doing yourself damage. I've always said: If someone could come up a steroid that has no side effects, it would be a miracle for many people like me who have inflammatory problems.

I also felt good on prednisone....I know, the 150's are my ultimate place to land, too.

Let's do it together, HCB. And let's hope that by the time I finish the prednisone I'll be able to go back to regular exercise. Right now, I'm barely able to walk the dogs.
