Fruits is sugar and sugar is carbs. Look for lower sugar fruits like blackberries, blueberries, raspberries - but limit them to 1/2 cup if you are following a low carb program.

If you are on a low carb diet these may not be recommended. but not all carbs are created equal. White flour, and white sugar, and processed foods are on the bad carb list. Apples and grapefruit are naturally sweet, have phytochemicals, and micronutrients, fiber,, and other nutrients that are vital to the human body. Apples have pectin and other attributes that are beneficial to weight loss. Fruits such as berries and melon are often recommended as they have have less natural sugar.

If you're not specifically doing a low carb diet i wouldn't worry about the carbs in fruit as long as you're staying within your calorie plan. I've done well eating 150 - 200 grams of carbs a day, but have kept both card and fat to healthier options. Avoided the processed foods and saturated fats. I've dropped 60 lbs in 4 months.

linkrunner, I have kept way inside of the daily calorie intake that the site suggests i eat. I think it has me eating about 2300 a day, my highest intake so far according to the list of foods i have put on here shows my intake at half if not more than the suggested intake even with the high carb fruits

i too have stayed away from the processed foods. my meats now which are turkey breast and black forest ham comes from the deli where i have them slice it thin. I am not doing that well on the saturated fats. I know that transfat isnt good for you but why not saturated? That one i dont understand

Yeah, just eat carbs based on your activity throughout the day. If you're sedentary, I'd maybe start out at 150g of carbs and work my way down if I'm not losing weight, or bloated. On very active days, increase a little bit.
Thinner seemed to answer the question pretty well, but fruits are basically a good source of carbs because they contain fiber(which can slow down digestion of carbs), and they very nutritious. Still though, they can be known for spiking blood sugar, so I'd recommend eating more green veggies than fruit.

Saturated fats were considered to be very unhealthy at one point, but some studies suggests otherwise. Too much of anything could be bad though, so I'd just watch the trans fats for now.

ok. next question...is it ok to give yourself one "cheat" meal? i have a meet and greet tonight and am meeting at Waffle house and i love their egg & cheese omlettes. Is it ok to eat just that and not blow things out of the water

Yeah, enjoy life. Just be careful that the cheat meal doesn't turn into cheat days, cheat weeks, etc

Depends on your plan, if you're counting calories, supposedly staying in a deficit should work swimmingly. I don't buy that nonsense personally based on my own experience and knowledge base, but it SHOULD work. I would assume that your RDI is off, if you're actually staying underneath what you think is an accurate recommendation.

It's because they have so much natural sugar normally that would not be a problem but when you are already having to worry about counting cards that natural sugar still breaks down into carbohydrates whether it's from a teaspoon of table sugar or orange juice or from concentrate in the last 11 months I have lost 127 pounds I think I'm now at the point that the occasional piece of fruit is not an issue but to start off that's why the carb count is so high

oh no, i dont plan on going from a cheat meal a week to a cheat day or week. i have too much too lose not to get this weight off and keep it off this time. I checked the nutritional county of an egg and cheese omlette on here and i should still be under my calorie count even if i have 3 eggs in the omlette. i am starting to get the hang of listing intake of foods on here and its amazing on just how much i didnt know.

i did better tonight than i thought i would. my omlette was made with only two eggs so my intake is a little lower...which makes my calorie intake for the day under 1000
