mdatek's Journal, 11 February 2016

I gotta admit, I'm a bit confused here.... I ate fewer calories than my RDI, walked an extra .5 miles, yet somehow, I put on a pound.

I know, I know... don't fret over fluctuating weight, things happen. But I would like to figure out what happened.

My guess: I was heavy on carbs, plus I ate my breakfast late and had a larger than normal dinner. All those things conspired to decrease my metabolism.

Eh.. I'm not a doctor nor a nutritionist. It's just a guess. Back on it today and hopefully I get it back down.

daily fluctuations can be caused by many things. Long term trends are more indicative of your current changes.

I agree - look for a downward trend over the long term - you have done well.

If I have a lot of wheat based foods, my weight bounces like crazy. It takes a couple of days for the water to be chased back out of your system if you usually use a low carb approach. I love carbs, but I try to steer clear of refined starches.

I read somewhere that the carbs soak up a lot of extra water, which is why you went up a pound...stick with high protein foods. They make you feel fuller and don't make you crave more, like carbs do.
