madaboutmoose's Journal, 27 October 2009

I'm just completely off balance lately. Hubby woke up at 3 am and turned on his book light to read. I had already been up at 2 to use the bathroom, gotten back to sleep, it is amazing how light a book light can make a room. That was it for me. I fought it for about 30 minutes then gave up and got up. So, I did a little extra time on my elliptical. I had a decent lower calorie day yesterday but weight didn't budge. Well, it did budge, up .2 lbs. I know. It's not a big deal. But I had hoped to be lower before vacation. I'm right in the "zone" ... and I know I will gain during vacation. Once I actually get on my way I think I won't care so much. Just grumpy I guess. I shouldn't complain. I still find myself putting on something in my closet only to discover that it is too big for me and needs to be recycled. That "should" make me smile.

Tomorrow we'll be on our way. First stop is Seattle then early Thursday we will head south of the border!! I am going to use the gym at the hotel this trip. We have no real agenda for vacation other than rest and relaxation. We both really need a change. It will do us both good!!

So ... let's see ... my five for today ...

1. Last day of work for TWO weeks!!!
2. Fairly caught up at work
3. Hanging out near the blue line for quite some time now
4. The snow seems to be holding off for now
5. ... TWO weeks of no agenda!!!

I am so excited for you and your husband. This vacation will be just what you need! Don't worry about getting out of the zone--you're good at this now and you know how to adjust when you need to. Hope the migraines leave you alone and you have a nice relaxing trip!

I had to laugh at the mental picture of your husband turning on his book light at 3am to read. 3am!!! Really???!! LOL I am guilty of reading and keeping my husband up later than he might like, but I think he'd definitely go sleep on the couch if I woke him up at 3am to do it. (Or suggest I go sleep there!) ;-)

Glad to hear that you will be going on your trip, and especially that you will be taking your lap-top with you :) . It is nice to have clothes be recycled to show that your hard work is paying off, but if you are like me it simply means that you are running out of clothes more and more. I still do not like shopping, at all. Have a great time when you are not counting calories.

Honey, get an eye bra. LOL I call it an eye bra because it is scooped out just a bit where the eye balls are so you do not have any pressure there to interrupt REM sleep plus it looks like a little mini bra. Too funny. I would be lost without mine. The regular ones sit right ON the eye lid and it is irritating and interrupts sleep. I ordered from a travel company for when I fly but wear it at home too if I wake up early and want to block out the light or when I take naps. Have a wonderful time on your vacation, you deserve it so much and what a wonderful time you will have with hubby. ((hugs and prayers for both of you.))

Have a wonderful time on your trip - enjoy a relaxing time with your OH. We used to have disturbed nights too and I don't function very well on a lack of sleep. I can cope with most things if I get enough. I started getting into the spare bed if he woke me up and although he didn't like it much I was much better. Of course there was the ever present guilt! Was I abandoning him when he was down? would he need me and I wouldn't be there? I did get my head round it in the end though. I'm getting ready to relax and live through your holiday, so plenty of pics please.

Thanks so much everyone for the good wishes!! We are just a week south of the border ... but all told, two weeks off of work for me. I decided to take a few extra days ... I feel like I need a REAL break and I have the vacation hours in the bank and still plenty of "sick" hours to use if I need to take time off for cancer related stuff later. Mo ... I do have an "eye bra" LOL!!! I was just so irritated and already awake I didn't even think about it this morning ... too funny!!! Can you believe I got ANOTHER migraine today??? My friends here tell me they think a bottle of tequila might be the cure!! LOL!!! I am just so ready ... for a complete shift in reality!! Don't know how many pictures I can promise but I'll see what I can do. Big HUGS of thanks to you all ...

Oh no, am I too late for good travel wishes and hugs in return?!? Good that you won't be counting calories. The conversion rate for calories is even more confusing than the money! I think Mojitos are good for migraines, aren't they? ;) Safe, happy travels (and return)!

Amy ... no you are still in time for good travel wishes and of course BIG HUGS to you!!! I need to try a Mojito ... I've never had one ... it is certainly worth trying for migraine medication!!!

Have a great time in PV moose. Don't worry about your weight at all, you will be moving and it simply won't be possible to put on too many "real" pounds in a limited time. It's always possible to make somewhat better decisions on the choices one makes for meals though, particularly in a place where there is a lot of excellent seafood. I'm sure you will appreciate the difference in the taste of about anything your order. Enjoy yourselves!!!

Have a wonderful and well-deserved vacation - from everything! I would say, "We'll miss you", but I see you'll have your laptop, so I guess we won't miss you.
