Good Morning, FS Warriors! We got 3 inches of snow overnight; the good news is that the temps are going to be hovering about the 30 degree mark over the next week. There is light at the end of the tunnel. It didn't get out of the teens this past week, and that is just too cold for me. I can live with the 30's and even work outside. Yay!

Surprisingly, I am not snacking much in retirement. I am not bored, and I think that is the key for me. Also, I have found that, if I do get hungry while on the road, and succumb to pulling into a fast food drive-thru, it's no fries, and only one sandwich to stave off the feeling of hunger, and I'm on the road again. In the past, not only would I get more than one sandwich, but I would get the larger sandwich. I hope this is due to a lifestyle change and not some biological fluke. I am drinking more water - as well as more coffee - but I've drastically cut back on the number of diet sodas per month. I don't think that I have drank more than 5 diet cokes in the last month. We are talking significant behavioral changes here.

I gave myself a retirement gift yesterday. Well, I picked it up yesterday; I ordered it last week. I bought myself a .308 rifle. Can't wait to get to the range. I love shooting, but have only managed to get to the range a couple times a year, while working. That's going to change now. I don't hunt, so it's mostly about marksmanship for me. I have a number of rifles, but most of them are pretty old. Just wanted a nice accurate modern one.

Menards had some plastic shelving on sale, and the one thing I desperately need is to get organized. I bought six deep and tall shelving units, so I'll begin today getting some things up and off the workshop floor. I'm going to put a couple in the pantry also. DW is paranoid that I'm going to be dragging things out of the pantry while I make this transition, and begged me to wait until she makes room to make this happen. I told her I would; but she better not go away for 3 or 4 hours, or it just might all be done before she gets back. :)

I've averaged being up until midnight or one in the morning, either studying or getting my assignments in on time. As most of you know, I'm enrolled in the Nazarene Bible College online. While the online option appealed to me on the basis of being able to work at my own pace, it is really a moot point, because there are enough assignments due on a daily basis that, yes, I can work at my own pace, as long as I get it done today. Haha! It is very intense, but very rewarding also. I have studied the bible on and off for probably 40 years, but I have finally found a structured study program that allows me to learn from the discoveries of a lot of people that have diligently researched the bible, ancient languages and civilizations, archaeological discoveries, and the writings of ancient historians. I think it's pretty cool.

Well, enough rambling for one day. I hope everyone has a wonderful day. Stay warm. Toodles!

Small changes add up to big change! That soda will kill you! Glad you are cutting back!

You're doing great in retirement, on top of the good changes in eating habits. I don't know that I would have the patience or diligence to go back to school at this point.
