billtech66's Journal, 04 September 2015

The last few days or even weeks, I've been feeling bloated in the afternoon, and don't want to eat much then.
So today I'm limiting what I eat.
separate issue;
Last night was a bad one. since I'm working a lot lately, my neck pain (headache due to neck injuries) has been much worse.
I woke up at 2:05am with BAD pain (neck/headache). I have worked out several 'cures' for this pain over the last 3 years. Sometimes just using one of the cures does it. More often I need to do more.
First I did the quick neck scrunches, then the 50 minute ball-in-sock cure, which helped, but not enough, so I put some menthol on it.
which helped for a while, then I used my best cure: Hot water, Turmeric, Ginger Juice, lemon juice. Had to get up to do that and it takes up to 40 minutes to work, but IT DID completely knock out the pain, as it always does. After the 2 hours doing all this, I slept soundly until 7:10am. (& at 8:46am pain still completely GONE.)
(BTW, the strongest prescription drugs do NOTHING for this pain.)

I didn't take anything to help sleep last night.
Usually I wake up due to mild headache from the neck injuries, and taking something to help sleep often alleviates that enough to get better sleep. I prefer natural sleep aids, various kinds, and often nothing at all.
I stopped taking Lunesta or Ambien, a few months ago, and now realize how much it had effected my short term memory!

I love the tumeric, ginger, lemon cure! Sounds great. And, you are so right about the prescription sleep aids effecting memory and also some of the over the counter ones, too. My mind is more sharp since I added coconut oil and other healthy fats.

thanks HCB, I've mentioned & posted the Turmeric cure before, somewhere in here. :) but Turmeric is anti inflamitory, the best. and Ginger juice is a pain killer, also very good. Lemon is for taste to balance the others. I start with hot water since Turmeric disolves in it easy. :)

It's good that the Tumeric mixture is helping you. I've been taking the Tumeric curcumin C3 extract with cinnamon for a few weeks, it's done wonders for the pain I was having in my hips.

I like the idea of the tumeric, ginger, lemon drink for pain. I get artheric pain in my hands and knees when I garden and/or excercise. What proportions do of each do you use?

Happy to hear you have weaned off of Ambien, Billtech66. The man in my life developed some serious cognitive issues when he was taking it and it was quite difficult for him to give it up. I think it is on the Bad Drug list.

Carol: I use 3 oz hot water, add 11g turmeric (heaping tablespoon), mixed, then 15 to 20g of my home made ginger juice from Omega juicer, 10g lemon juice. I add dash of black pepper supposed to increase effectiveness of turmeric. & I Will try cinnamon also as jmb3450 mentions. :)

MY SIL uses ambien and she remembers nothing if someone has a conversation with after she take it until her sleep cycle is over and she is wide awake. It is ridiculous and I struggle sleeping some nights and there are some things I will use and others I will not. Melatonin and valerian work best for me and I only use them as needed after 2-3 bad bouts of sleeping. Interesting with the turmeric lemon ginger cocktail. I have been taking turmeric curcumin C3 and cinnamon same as Jim and it has helped heaps and I hip, neck shoulder and elbow issues and it helps immensely.

The analgesic effect of Ginger has NO side effects, based on checking online, and my own experience. Added benefit of Ginger is that it has been proven to kill cancer! three different ways. The Turmeric cure drink I use always includes Ginger for the pain relief, and turmeric for the anti inflammatory effect. The nice thing about herbs and spices is, IMO, that they also have other benefits. As opposed to drugs that ALWAYS have bad side effects. Drug companies playing god, thinking "if we can just extract the thing (who says it's just ONE thing? you ejits!) then we can patent it and make a LOT of money." and they do. Mother nature makes herbs and spices and foods, they have Synergy, working together. Removing some or just one, can and will throw off the result. Another good example of that is B vitamins; there are 64 in the B vitamin complex, and they all work together. (We rarely get enough B vitamins in our Modern diet, BTW) Vitamin B PILLS however have a HUGE imbalance. The geniuses put massive doses of the few known B vitamins, then add a sprinkle of brewers yeast, so they can legally call it the full complex. No surprise that B vitamins PILLS have NEVER worked for me, and can and have produced some interesting and negative side effects.
