Had you eaten or had anything to drink or was it fasting? Are you diabetic? Stress, pregnancy and some medications can leave you prone to higher fasting blood sugars. I'd just retest another day and see what happens.

thanks yolanda! i'm definitely stressed out; I had gestational diabetes & my son is 2 1/2 now; I test sporadically now; this is fasting so it's pretty high. I ate well yesterday and did a heavy weights day so I was hoping for a low..... you're right I'll just try again tomorrow morning or later today.

For some physical reason the blood sugar is always higher in the mornings. Check it later in the day and see if it has gone down. Mine is about that when I get up, but after I eat some eggs it will go down. Don't know why...

I wonder if it goes up as I don't eat anything? that's exactly what I ate was eggs, and veggies / salad..... It's 114 now;

I read a comment somewhere last week that blood sugar is higher in the morning as your body raises it as part of the waking-up process, to help get you going. I guess if you test it every day on waking, you would expect it to be about the same, but I'm sure it's more complicated than that.

Eat a protein snack at night and see if your reading is better in the morning.
