FatSwatter's Journal, 27 July 2015

At a plateau for a little over a week and just can't seem to get below 209. No matter what though, I'm not giving up and I choose to be positive during this time. After all, I believe attitude is a little thing that makes a big difference! People are going through a lot worse than me not being able to see past 209. :)

This week, I have a few goals:
-Drink at least 64 oz of water a day (I usually have a little more)
-Have protein at every major meal
-Exercise at least 20 minutes
-Walk 20 of the 30 minutes during my lunch break
-Practice positive self-talk to keep motivated
-Don't let lack of progress discourage me
-Log into FS every day and post a journal entry :)

What are your goals this week?

Make sure you measure too. I have been through many plateaux, and I noticed that every time, even if the scale wasn't moving, the measurements were. Write them down so you can keep track. Fore-arm, upper arm, calf, thigh, waist and hip. You will see, it's just our body adjusting and shifting from fat to muscle, and the muscle is heavier than the fat.

Thanks Dayberndt! I forgot to mention that I have been measuring although I usually only do that once a month. I have noticed stretch marks on my love handles indicating loss especially since I can wear pants I haven't worn in over a year. :)

Your attitude is wonderful. I was very good with diet and exercise last week and I showed a gain this morning. It happens. Say it with me: "the scale doesn't define me. It is a tool. This is a life journey and I'm in it for the long haul." Next week will be better for both of us. :)

Also plateauing. But I think if I just stick to what I'm doing, I will lose weight eventually, even if it's very slowly. Might try and up the exercise a bit.

Wonderful! Keep up the good job! Scale will move eventually, it has no choice.

Plateauing too. Going to keep on keeping on. It has been a show down between me and my metabolism. I've got the patience of a chopping block and I will not break. I'll keep doing what I know is right; what has worked in the past. One big advantage of logging my food and weight, I can look back to find out what worked. I've made some minor adjustments to better match what I was eating then. It worked then, it should work now. Maybe my body has gotten to a 'set point' and I've just got to convince it that this is just a break and not to setup shop here, we're only going to stay for the week and then we'll move on.

Sometimes when that happens it is good to shock your body. Do a hard change to your diet or work out routine.

I usually eat a 2-3 lbs of strawberries or half a watermelon in one day (and not much else) then back on induction and that usually gets my metabolism back on track.
