I've figured out some of my key success factors in losing weight...

1. Not having calorie dense foods around the house (i.e. chocolate, cookies, chips or other foods that will move me beyond my calorie limit before I'm ever full). This became glaringly obvious in the past 2 weeks where I am eating what is being served by the universities, and it's rarely healthy. Definitely a self control issue! I'm hoping it feels worse than it is, but my calories are high! I've learned that when I can see the food, I will choose to eat things that are unhealthy, and if I'm ordering off a menu, I make healthy choices - just has to do with being able to see/smell the food.

2. Having people around me who are also working on being healthy. I've realized I'm quite easily influenced to sit around and do nothing (okay, just chat) rather than exercise when that's what everyone else is doing.

So I think I'm seeing that I still need to work on the behavioural part of this... making sure I'm okay with eating less, or making different choices than everyone else.

My really happy thought for the day is that my goal of being 275 by August 7th is actually achievable!

they say that your chances of being slim increases if you have slim friends and that your chances of being heavy increase if you have heavy friends - your chances of being successful in loosing weight increases significantly if you have a buddy to do it with! who said peer pressure ended with high school!

You're so right Krystyne! When I hang out with my friends that are eating healthy, we're a good influence on each other, and conversely, when I hang out with friends who can eat anything they want and not gain weight, I end up eating more than I normally would.

I have found the same thing which has limited me to only a few friends... and borrowing my brothers friends as they seem to have the same kind of goals as I do. PS I love your new profile pic you look fantastic!

You have come such a long way Brandy and you should be so proud! Just be mindful of what you're eating and you will be just fine when you are in 'bad food' situations. Celebrate your success! It's always easier when you surround yourself with people who are in the same mindset as you. But you also may inspire someone who ISN'T if you find yourself with the not so healthy peeps and you stick to your eating plan. Either way, i think you will be just fine. =)
