Been really busy last few days trying to help somebody overcome substance addiction. I've been there before and know how hard it is. But some people may not be totally ready to make the change. I just do the best I can and hope they find the balance and spirituality in life because addiction is just too powerful. However, I was still able to find time keep my walking close to where I wanted.

Monday went to see the VA RN and my blood pressure is 96/65 and heart rate is 50 bpm. I have been off the blood pressure medicine for months now and the nurse said marathoners usually have that type of BP results. She asked if I get light headed or dizzy and I don't. I hope one day to start running again but for now I think I am doing great just walking. It takes more time but I enjoy getting outside early in the morning and early evening when it is cooler.

One of the reasons I believe my blood pressure is low is because I use extra virgin olive oil when I cook. But I never cook at high temp. and cook as low as possible so I don't change the chemical composition of the oil. Olive oil is great at is natural state but after heating it up too much where it smokes it looses it's composition and harder to digest. When I cook my eggs in the morning on low temp... it takes much longer. Another reason is because I add garlic to just about everything I cook and I used it as a salt substitute. I sometimes go overboard with the garlic and put garlic powder and dried minced onions it on my eggs in the morning.

I just brush my teeth at least 8 times/ day.

You are right, the garlic is lowering your blood pressure. Don't eat too much of it. It's not good to brush your teeth more then 3 times a day. Ask any dentist. You can switch to some mints instead of brushing your teeth too often but the garlic you are smelling is coming out through your sweat too.

Thanks Snezica! I have very strong enamel on my teeth and never had a cavity my whole life. I have been using garlic and ginger as a substitute for salt when I cook and try not to go over board with it. But at least I don't have to worry about the vampires.

I love garlic too, and it does lower blood pressure. I put it in everything (also onions). I also use lots of spices, as it is like free medicine! As for bad breath...I use tic tacs.

For your garlic breath try filling an empty tictac container with dry fennel seeds. Throw a large pinch in your mouth after eating, chew the seeds, slosh the juices around (so it gets around your mouth). You can rinse with water or stroll around like a boss. Either way, your garlic breath is gone and no film of sugar on your teeth from eating breath mints. PLUS it's great with getting rid of gas/bloating. I have a small container of seeds in my office drawer for when i have lunch with garlic, fish, raw onions etc :). It's a conversation saver.

Awesome work! Tooth brushing is my favorite also - and it works to avoid cravings, too.
