The closer you get to your ultimate goal the more mentally challenging it seems to get. I sometimes think I am not going to know what to do after years of calorie restriction and then it dawned on me I am still going to count calories I will just get to add a few more calories to the overall count. That appeased my brain because after this battle with food I seriously didn't know how I was going to manage life without the battle.

Food is a tricky addiction! You have to eat, there is no way around it and learning what to eat, when to eat, and how much to eat are in my opinion a learned set of patterns, not so much innate for the consummate overeater.

I know exactly what you mean. I've not reached my goal, but have questioned myself as to what I would be doing with this extra time if I did not have this battle. This addiction has become the focus of my life. So much time and energy has been spent trying to lose of weight, or thinking about it. It's become who I am. And I agree about food being a tricky addiction. I've come to realise (and this takes maturity) that I don't want a quick fix, and want it now. I want something I can live it for the rest of my life. I don't want to be hungry or craving. This is why it's taking me so long. I'm experimenting. But in that I've realised it also a simple question of arithmetic. Calories in and calories out. In all, I agree with your post 100%

To lose weight, we have to burn more calories by exercising. The more calories we burn, the more weight we lose. If I have a high calorie day, the next day I must exercise more by walking. Good luck in your 10000 steps walking challenge!

Yes I agree totally!! Mardee you have motivated me so much with your words and results!! This week have finally decided to start walking and stop talkin!!this week Started with 5600 steps..challenging myself every day till yesterday 12,300!! It's feels great started feeling the strains and restriction in different parts of my body..till now I feel great!! Also been recently been seeing results of people that I know personally that have changed for health or other reasons! That dropped 20-30 lbs. look great and that has been a motivation! I work with seniors and disabled adults and noticed when someone has a meltdown,,, usually it's just a matter of redirecting the tangent or fit!! thurs and friday this week since it's spring..insted of spring cleaning the house which is next!! Sprang cleaned the body with a little cleanse or flush!! Had an empty block of time which normally I'd would just eat to eat!! Instead was motivated to give the dog a bath and we were both happy!! To accomplish success is the greatest thing to do for ourselves!! I have a friend that simply eats the same thing every day??? Think I'd get really bored with this!!! But by just choosing from a healthy fresh organic list,,, it's healthy!! and you feel it!! You have more energy, sleep better ect. No pills, just trills forever! Who wants to mess up the benifits from a 5 mile walk! It takes to much time and it's not worth it!! Yah start to only crave good foods!! Years ago was in a family owned health food store..the owners daughter was 4 years old and helping out there! She was raised a vegetarian..I asked her if she'd like a piece of candy and she replied NO I can only have healthy foods!! I was amazed by the disapline of this little kid!! I see healthy kids in my vegetarian group that glow with health that are raised vegetarian and are not bouncing of the walls! Keep on walking strong sisters and brothers!! and eating right!!
