Ok some good news and bad news. Bad news I did not lose anything, but I did not gain either lol. I did enjoy myself last night, I was careful about what I ate during the day and then just enjoyed my dinner. It was awesome. So no loss but I think I did lose during the week, and just put it back on over the weekend.

Second thing of bad news. My stepsons old babysitter passed away on Friday, she is my age, and left behind 3 kids, all under the age of 5. She had gastro-bypass surgery just over a year ago. She had had a difficult time with it from the start, went into the hospital Wednesday in a lot of pain, and passed on Firday evening. The surgery caused her death.
I met her a few times (before and after surgery) , and yes she looked fantastic. She had lost over 100lbs after the surgery. Now shes gone.

Wow... that really sucks about the babysitter... especially when it was the surgery to help her lose weight and be healthier that ended up causing her death. Just really sad.

I am so sad to hear that. That has to be hard. Those poor kids. Praying for her family.

Ouch...so tragic. I wonder what complications led to her death? Not that it's my business or anyone else's, but every situation is different & most of us probably know or know of someone who has had gastric surgery & was not ultimately successful at losing/keeping weight off for any number of reasons. Gastric surgery IS the right choice for many people & it could have even been the best choice for her at the time she had it. I good friend of mine had surgery last summer & if anyone was a good candidate for it (i.e. would make the most of it & maintain the loss after the fact), it was him. But due to an unfortunate combination of circumstances related to preexisting medical conditions, he had major complications & spent a good 6 months in the hospital afterward. They could not possibly have been predicted by anyone & luckily he did recover & is doing wonderfully now. Just goes to show how serious a decision gastric surgery is for anyone, definitely not something to enter into without careful consideration.

I'm so sorry Jennifer! So very sad. My thoughts and prayers go out to her family and especially her children. =(

That is a sad story but with surgery there always comes risks. I also know where you come from with the weight thing and how you can get side tracked by overly enjoying a meal. I was on pace to lose 10 pounds a month, then came the holidays where I pretty much let myself go. I pretty much stayed balanced but didn't really start losing weight again until Feb. So I did well from early September to mid November going from 223 to 198. I only lost a 1.5 pounds from late November to early Jan. But I went from 196.5 to 178 since. So your gonna have some moments of weakness, but the key is not to give up when your weight goes up again or starts to flux. My weight as of just this week fell to 178 and went up to 183 and is back down to 178. Very easy to give up when your weight can go up 5 pounds in 3 days. Just don't give up and stick to your goals.

Thank you everyone for the comments. It's still in the weird phase because we JUST saw her a week ago when we were out. ViciouslyCold - Thank you for sharing that. I totally enjoyed myself. My grandmother spent so much time preparing all my old favorites from when I was a child. I did not go crazy by any means. Just was not as mindfully crazy has I have been. I know some where down the road there will be more moments of "weakness" but i am ok with that. With the new workout routine I have going I have learned so much, and understand that it is probably going to be a year or more until i am where I want to be, and that's ok. Nope no giving up here. I have not felt this good about myself in years!!!!!
