I am tired of being unhealthy and unfit.

I'm Shannon. I am a mom, a teacher, a fiance and numerous other things. I don't take time for myself and that is about to change. I have PCOS and it makes it diffocult to lose weight, but I am not going to let that deter me. I am worth being healthy. I am worth feeling attractive. I am going to do this.

I started this morning at 163 pounds at 5'3". I want to be 130 or a size 8. I don't care which, as long as I feel and look how I think I should.

Since I can't really work toward specific sizes...it is much easier to work towards pounds loss...this is my plan.

I want to lose 33 pounds by the beginning of November. That means a pound per week with a tiny bit of leeway.

Here are my short term goals.

By April 6 - 158
By May 11 - 153
By June 15 - 148
By July 20 - 143
By August 24 - 138
By September 28 - 133
By November 2 - 130

Here's to changing my life.

We are in the exact same boat......mom, work full-time, & much more. My current weight is 169 (started at 174.5) w/ similar short-term & long-term goals. I've been in the 133-136 range my entire adult life until marriage & kids recently; not taking time for myself. We are headed out on vacation in 19 weeks & I'd like to be at 150 by then, losing 1 pound per week too. Good luck to us both & here's to changing our lives to start making OURSELVES a priority! If we don't take care of OURSELVES, how can we truly take care of others?

Great, realistic goals. Have you come up with a plan to make it happen?

You can do it! It's hard the first week...maybe even the second....but if you're determined, then you'll reach those goals with flying colors! :)

Do it girls, once upon a time I was 20-30 and needed to loose 35-40 pounds and Now I weighed in this morning at 300.6. I am DISGUSTING AND NEED TO DO IT THIS TIME. I am now 50 and a teacher, mother of 5, wife, and so much more and have never taken the time to take care of me. IT IS TIME! Don't wait, you ladies can do this.

Atkins is perfect for insulin resistance. But focus on eating healthy and exercising-that's the piece you will keep for life.

I've done something like the Atkin's Diet before and felt like Hell. I won't do it again. My plan is at least 30 minutes of exercise per day and eating in a more healthy way. I am 35 and my metabolism just isn't what it was before kids.

You have a very realistic goal. Try calorie counting. You can eat anything you want as long as you stay within your limits. Eventually you will discover that you want to eat foods that are healthier for you for the calories, at least I did. And I found foods that stayed with me, I hate hunger pains. I think because your goals are realistic you will be successful. Good for you.
