i have had a really hard time staying with this.i did some shopping today and I'm going to go back to eating the same thing every day again. it worked for me in the beginning, so it will work for me again. I'm also going to read my Atkins book again. i went to the pool today and felt so self conscious because of all the girls in bikinis that i did not stay long. I'm feeling really bad about myself right now. i could use some encouragement.

We all get depressed about our weight. I know I am. We got to stick together and take it one day at a time.. gl

Exactly..we have all been there. I beat myself up at least once a day, but the bottom line is that you have made a decision to do something about the situation. Instead of focusing on the other people at the pool, imagine how good you will feel as the pounds fall off. You can do this- just have patience with yourself!

It is tough being overweight, but the only way to feel better about yourself is stick with it, one day at a time. Neylonas is right. Don't worry about the other people in the pool. There will always be someone prettier and skinnier. They also may have never had to struggle with their weight. Some are lucky that way. I've fought with it all my life also. Stick to it. Atkins works. As you lose, you will start feeling so much better about yourself mentally and physically. I've only lost 14 pounds since I started 1 month ago, 8 since I found this website, and I already feel so much better (and I have a long ways to go). Read your Atkins book, go to the Atkins website for more info, read some of the posts and get ideas and tips from experienced 'losers' on this website. We're all here for you! For Atkins, biggest things you need to do to boost the weight loss is to drink LOTS of water, try to keep your net carbs under 20(about 12-15 of those being from veggies), and don't starve yourself(keep at around 1500 calories preferably). If you do that, and get some exercise in there, it should happen for you!! Good luck to you. One day closer to a new, healthier you!

Hang in there! I have been a year at the same weight and then started gaining! I too would like to have a "bikini body" but we have to start somewhere and today can be the day!

I think being at a pool is tough for anyone, no matter their weight, even the "girls in bikinis." But you've lost over 17 pounds in just over 2 months! That's a wonderful achievement and you have every right to be proud of that. Focus on what YOU need to get done for YOU at the pool and try your best to ignore the rest.

Lordy I have a hard time and I have my own pool...just the fact that you went to a public pool is amazingly brave in my opinion. You are doing fantastic!! Have a great weekend!

Stef is so right..when you are trying to give someone encouragement, you tell them what you try to tell yourself, like 'don't worry about those other people in the pool', but in fact that was extremely brave. To be quite honest, you're braver than I am! I haven't been in a public pool in years:( You all have a great weekend! Kitty, I'm so glad that you're feeling better!
