Annabelle3117's Journal, 03 December 2014

Went shopping before breakfast this morning, ended up starving. Came home, made breakfast, chowed it down and now I'm waiting for it to kick in. Must remember not to do that again lol. Hungry is never good.

Yesterday went well, and I'm here again today so that is surely a solid step in the right direction. I'm going to make December count, damnit! I went to the gym as I planned yesterday, woohoo! Thirty minutes on the elliptical, fifteen on the recumbent bike, and some upper body strength training in the weight room. It sounds better when I write it down, didn't seem like much yesterday. Stuck to my allotted 1500 cal, and kept the carbs in check, low sugar. I already have my meal plan done for today, so that's one less thing to worry about.

SIL posted on facebook asking if anyone knew of any good detox/cleanses for weight loss. She's always looking for the next big thing, the quickest fix. None of her fixes ever work though... Interesting to watch. I just ate sausage gravy over toast with two fried eggs, and I've done it many times before while I was losing. It's hard for people to grasp the concept that you can eat normally and lose. I guess we live in a very all or nothing society, even when it comes to our diets. Either we aren't watching what we eat so we eat everything, or we are and we eat nothing. It is hard to find that middle ground, and it's hard to be patient because weight loss takes time. I mean, obviously I'm not perfect and I let my emotions get the better of me sometimes, but I think as far as knowing how to do it right I've got that down pretty well.

I'm still trying to figure out what my activity should be for the day. I'm sore yet from yesterday, and I don't have as much time. I have a test this evening that I need to be cramming for, laundry up the ying yang, and all the usual housework. I guess I need to take Mary's advice and make a list, organize them in importance and go from there. Right now I could go for a nap :) Never seems to be enough hours in the day.

I hope everyone is well! Have a wonderful day!

You are so right. A lot of people go for all or nothing with weight loss. I eat everything in moderation and get attacked for it, like why am I eating candy when trying to lose weight, etc. My cousin that likes to nag on me is now heavier then me so there, enough proof. You can have it all but not everybody understands that.

Sound's like great advice from Mary! Just remember your water intake today, as it is very important since your workout, yesterday. Good luck on your test today. And if you need a nap,it can sometimes be quite helpful. Listening to what your what your body needs is key! Enjoy your day. Keep me posted on how you are doing. Truly, J.J.

Yolanda - I only get 20-30 minutes a day to workout. I know it's hard to find time activity, but seek out some high intensity intervals (HIIT) or Tabata workouts. Seriously, I get more of a workout in 20 minutes than I used to get in hours at the gym...and most of the routine I can do at home with no weights, etc. I'm glad to read your journals again. You have a good perspective on things.

When I tell people about the weight I've lost a lot of them ask what diet I was on. Internally I'm like LOL diet? but I just tell them I cut out junk food and extra snacks. Exercise had not previously been part of the equation for me, so adding that element to my life made the most difference. I really didn't stop eating good stuff. I love food too much to do that.

Tell SIL to go to beachbody and order the refresh body cleanse detox, supposed to help you lose 4 pounds in 3 days.

Yolanda! Yay for your day, yesterday! Exactly, eat nutrient dense foods, avoid the junk, watch the portions, and exercise so your body tones as the same time. Most people I know also want some quick fix, all they do is the yo-yo dance. Been there.

Glad that you're doing well, one day a time is the best way to take it for all of us. Really great that you got to the gym too, keep up the good work!
