So true! The American Red Cross are the nicest group of people I have met in a long time, and I look forward to making an appointment every 4-6 weeks to donate. It's a surprisingly relaxing hour for me. Sit on a lounge, watch a movie, drink juice.
They have a blood drive at SDCCI (San Diego Comic Con International) every year, and in a four day period received 1,497 pints in donations! It's a high point for those of us that go each year.
Spend an hour, help save a life, because you never know who you're helping.

@Transformation Butterfly. Your comment: "How sad it is to say she has lived on this earth for 78 years and never did anything to help another living soul make it through one more day." She never gave blood, but she might have made countless pies and meals when her friends lost loved ones; she might have babysat grandchildren and other children to help parents. She didn't give blood; That's okay. You do; that's great.

Right she may have done many there things. You reminded me I need to see if they will take my blood again. Used to do it regularly however couldn't for along time due to medications. Maybe they can since they are now different meds.

@Ibiza: The Red Cross (or other group) cannot discuss your medical history publicly; they would violate HIPAA. Plus, it matters not one whit what another thinks.

@kaylyn: yes ofcourse they cannot discuss it, but to pull one person aside infront of hundreds of hundreds of people and then having to walk out without donating is a tad bit embarrassing especially since i was only 21 and was surrounded by other youth my age and younger, perhaps it would feel different for a full fledged adult but hey i dont know if anything like that has happened to you and you know what it feels like or not but thats my personal opinion
