WARNING: IF YOU ARE NOT INTERESTED IN TMI, PLEASE STOP READING NOW!

I'm experiencing something very odd when I work out...
I think it's when I become overheated, I get painful cramps in my stomach and diarrhea follows. I can't even finish my workout! I get 30 minutes in and the "porcelain god" beckons. It's terrible and I don't know what's happening! If anyone on here has experienced, or maybe even knows what I might be going through, I need help... I'm not sure if this is something that I should see a doctor about or if this may be something I can fix on my own. This is very awkward for me to post on a social media site, so please be kind. :/

Hi Kehfeh, I'm a Nurse Practitioner. I'm not going to try and diagnose you, but it sounds like you have something similar to what's termed "runners diarrhea". I'm sure you can try solutions on your own, but as a provider, I would recommend that you follow up with your physician first, as gastrointestinal problems come in all shapes and sizes and a further workup may be necessary to pin-point the problem. Good luck.

Ok, thank you so much! I'll visit with my doctor. I had a feeling it was necessary anyway. Thank you, again!

Hope it works out for you soon. I'm sure you'll figure it out. I power out if I haven't hydrated properly. The 'D' problem? Not so sure. Seeing a doctor is a no brainer.

Sounds like a bit of hypoglycemia. If you burn through glycogen stores with workouts (high rep or heavy cardio) you'll start to experience nausea, light headedness, and cramping. Sometime a pre-workout protein shake can help. Don't do a big workout if you haven't had something to eat an hour prior.

I also overheat and become nauseous. Someone recommended I drink bullion 30-60 minutes prior to my workout and to drink an electrolyte drink (gatorade, pedilyte, etc) during the work out. I have been drinking the bullion and that has helped tremendously. I have not yet tried electrolytes hope this helps
