BuffyBear's Journal, 22 March 2011

Lots of journals discuss POO but I'm going one step below that. Lets talk about gas. It just occured to me that since I haven't been eating any wheat products this "problem" is greatly improved - even though I am eating broccoli, cabbage, flax, etc. Could I be allergic to wheat?

I don't have an answer for you. All I know is that I seem to have way more gas now than I do when I am not following Atkins.

How interesting--because I'm like you Buffy; but even moreso, b/c I never have an occurance of it since starting this WoE...ever. I don't expect it would be a case of being allergic to wheat, though. Wheat, flour, meats, cheese and sugars all have have a part in causing that -- I guess with the absence of the wheat or flour/sugar it greatly lessens the affects. ???

Funny how two people can eat the same thing with different consequences.

since starting this woe, i am no longer gassy & bloated. it's all those carbs :) i can eat broccoli, no problem, but before i was eating broccoli with pasta or rice and blaming the broccoli for the gas!

Must be nice. Is there anyone that gets gas besides me?

Guess I've not really thought about gas....but thinking about it now, seems I do have problems some days and not others. I think I'll start trying to go back and review my diary on my 'bad' days to see if I can find a something in particular that might be the culprit. Hmmmmm.

Well I've just come to accept it and keep beano with me in my purse.

Sophie and I are happy! Sorry Skeeter and K - bet you'll find the culprit if you keep searching. And thanks for sharing.

Ladies don't have gas lol - I'm laughing as my son genuinely thought this, and then he was about eight when I was jumping around and accidentally farted and my son was so shocked as he thought up and until that point only boys farted!

I have a lot less too and I am gluten intolerant. Even when I eat gassy foods I hardly have any. It is a wonderful change from all that nasty gas causing gluten lol

That's so funny, triaby! = ) Reminds me of this: women don't sweat; we just glisten.

Horses sweat, men perspire and women glow...

Whoa, what a popular subject! Over the holidays I allowed myself bread, lots and lots of home made bread.I saw my naturopath shortly there after and she asked me if I had gas from all the bread. I noticed I did and I don't have much following the rules so I know for a fact, gluten causes gas.I don't think it is so much an allergy as the way and what it turns into as it is digested. Interesting subject.

I'll sure think twice before I ever eat another bite of wheat again.

Wow, you are a strong woman. I cannot imagine life without and occasional cookie or piece of bread. But, yes thinking twice about it is a good idea. Thanks for the sauce ideas. Now my refrigerator is stocked with sour cream and cream cheese. And, I lost weight this week eating this way.

Thanks so much for opening this topic...some good advise and some good laughs came from it! btw....according to my d-i-l, women don't 'fart', they 'fluff'. Guess some of us just have 'fluffy' days occasionally. ☺ ☺
