GlennM's Journal, 16 March 2011

I am doing well. I will hopefully get on buddies' journals tonight. The weather is rainy and melting the snow. I may go back on calorie count as I am doing gluten-free dieting now so Atkins is tough to do right now. I went to an appointment earlier and took a nap, had a dream for a whole book no less, I think it will be short enough that it won't take long to write and I will do it right after the western instead of all of the short stories and other sci-fi fantasy books. Let's all hope for the best for Japan with the nuclear power plants and the problems that they're facing. I am going to a dinner party here in my building tonight and then a meeting afterward so will be busy but will try to gt on buddies' journals later...

Hi Glenn, you do know thats how the whole Twilight Saga began? She had a dream about these vampires that called them selves vegetarians as they only drank animal blood. Well the rest is history. She has made millions just from a dream...So keep dreaming my friend it could happen to you... Have a good Wednesday.....Bren

Thanks Bren - it is not a series book - that I am certain of, but the science fiction/fantasy book that will inevitably get written and I am always taking notes for will be at least a trilogy. The dream I had will be just one book for certain. I'm off for a while as I will be busy. The western reads well, I sort of get the feel of the year 1850 after just a few dozen pages interestingly enough. Tomorrow I will start printing out the query letters to the various agents...

How about if you just adjust your WOE to what works for you and not try to pigeon hole yourself with a specific name for it. Adjust as you need to and not have to worry about specific guidelines, then you don't have to worry about switching from one thing to another. Just a thought....

Thanks Babs - I will do gluten-free for now. My computer has too many programs running on it so it is slowing down a bit, I deleted one but it showed up when I went to a news site, maybe I will delete that site. Bren - the western is a wagon train western, with many varied characters and might make a good TV mini-series someday. It is different in many ways from a normal, average western - it needs work, but I am hoping a final draft will be done by the end of May as I am not changing names in it. I awakened in the middle of the night, I feel unsettled about was is going on in Japan, though there is no new news at this moment at 3:30 Eastern...

Happy St. Patrick's Day all. I spent DAYS going through an literary agent site and weeding out the useless agents that won't accept my genres, now I can't find that notebook anywhere. So I start again and have spent so much time on this it is such a pain. Then when I PRINT a site it prints twenty useless pages so I have to write these agents by hand so I don't waste paper. If I sound stressed I am, I did this work and can't find it - must have thrown out the notebook. All the short stories written are in a bureau and will not get lost by leaving them on a desk to get lost. My place is SO small it is unbelievable and families are living here no less. I vented. Back to the site and starting all over again...

Thanks Bren - things happen for a reason. At the literary agent site it seems they changed the people in the beginning who are more conducive to ANY authors, why someone is listed if they're not taking things unless a book is already sold is senseless - they should all be deleted from such lists. I got fifteen I will do this weekend, some will take many chapters, or fifty pages, etc. so that will help me immensely as I try to get my foot in the door of the publishing industry. Interestingly, short stories are not selling for first-time authors so I am glad that is not my first book, maybe I can sell a few of those stories to magazines. I waste so much time on the bus and cleaning and other things that take up so much time it is ridiculous. I think if I want to get serious about doing this with my erratic sleep patterns is to get rid of the basic cable I have - hours here and there add up to time being wasted where I can be getting myself ahead. Thank God I don't watch reality TV, which is a mind-numbing total waste of time, the rest of the TV will go in the coming days - anything anyone needs to really see like the news is on the Internet. Thanks Bren for being here on the site for me when I have had so little time for buddies lately, I will try to get on this weekend for sure to buddies' journals - have a great weekend Bren and everyone else...

Hi Bren - real quickly two books are completely done. I'm doing the final edit of book 3 now. I need an agent to sell the book(s) to a publisher, the fact I have so much work done will help me out I think. One writer in a magazine was asked how to get more writing done and he said don't watch TV - so I think very soon I will heed that advice... Hope to get on buddies' journals this weekend, have a great time away Bren...
