GlennM's Journal, 15 March 2011

I am doing well. I hope everyone is OK. It is supposed to be about 50* out today, so the warm weather is coming and already the snow is melting rapidly here in New England, with mostly just the large snow piles left. I am likely to be doing gluten-free dieting from now on so it's unlikely that I will be doing Atkins too. I am up early today and hope to go shopping and get the query letters started too, I have to pick a day from next month to send them all out... My friend Shawn went to the native Indian casinos in W NY and returned last night to the area. I hope everyone has a great Tuesday...

Hi Glenn, hoping your day is a good one. Good luck on eating gluten-free food. In my area its hard to find foods like that. I can't even fine Greek Yogart in this small town......Bren

Hi Bren- in my town there are two large grocery stores so there is Greek yogurt there, the next town has a Whole Foods and a Trader Joe's too so I can go there soon especially as the weather warms up - the college bus goes through that area. I found some gluten-free bread crumbs and bread mix, though I don't bake foods so may try the crumbs for frying. I have some corn pasta, which is an acquired taste but is OK. I wanted to ask - is everyone else having trouble typing on their computer the past day or so, mine pauses repeatedly when I type, what could be the cause?

Bren - thanks for checking in, I live in a town of 30,000 people nearby are other suburbs of mostly lower populations close by. It is expensive here - rents are sky high, but mine is by income. Most apartments are upwards of $1,000 a month plus easily. The colleges nearby and in this town make it expensive here. I just read an article in a men's magazine I will not renew that says a guy needs to earn a minimum of $75,000 a year. What a joke, and my friend Luanne told me I can get a girlfriend with no car, no money to date, etc. She isn't interested in men and looks older than my mother, by the way. I can't pay half the bills so am as likely to get a girlfriend as the guys in a nearby halfway house. Anyway, I vented. Our landlord here lets select people live with their families and not pay extra rent, but if I got caught doing it would be evicted immediately. That is a chapter of a book in itself that I don't ever or will never write. I was busy today out to get the dog's license, a haircut, went to a meeting and walked around town and now plan to edit the western. Tomorrow a doctor's appointment and we have a party here too. Be well, everyone - I am eating less doing gluten-free dieting...

Hi Glenn, housing is always higher in a college town. Glad your diet of your choice is working for ya. What kind of dog do you have and what is its name? I am an animal lover if I had my way I would have all kinds. But life doesn't allow that. Any way hope your eveining is a good one....Bren

Hi Bren - I am a bit fed up with where I live, it is way too small but I have a roof over my head and I have the potential to get out of my living situation, which is highly unlikely for even one of my two hundred neighbors. My dog is named 'Toto' - the previous owner lived on my floor here and died two years ago in January. Her birthday is some time this month - she's eleven, healthy - needs a grooming after the winter fur that has grown - she's a Cairn Terrier mix, looks like one and she is tan-colored and seems more aware of things than many dogs. She'll sit in a chair and look out at the sky for extended periods of time, no sunrises here - where she used to live on that side she saw them probably, so there is probably her interest in looking out. She is a good dog and is a good-tempered animal. Anyway, I rescued her after her owner passed on, and I'm glad I took her - thanks for asking. I will get on other buddies' journals including yours Bren - if not tonight then definitely tomorrow!

...And by Thursday I WILL start typing in names and addresses to literary agents, the two books that are done have letters completed to send out and that will happen within a few weeks, probably early April...
