moondove's Journal, 12 March 2011

I have stalled out for almost a week now... I Started Atkins Feb 10, 2011. Lost 16 lbs in about 3 weeks, then nothing... I think I have followed the diet pretty well. I have been given some advise to cut the Atkins bars and not eat too many nuts. So, I am going to do that.
I want to loose about 35 lbs before I leave Induction. What do you al' think about that? Or should I move on to OWL before that?

I borrowed an Atkins book from the library, (version 2003). Realized it wasn't the one I was after. Just ordered 'The New Atkins For A New You'.

Well, I am off and running. I wish everyone a GREAT DAY!

Oh love your calories are so low...your body is gonna think its starving . I spemnd alot of time on the atkins.com boards and they stress 1500 a day is like minimum for most people. You need veggies and lots of them add fats to up the calories I lost 202 lbs on atkins low ago so I have done this before and such low calories are gonna work against you in the end.

absolutely! if your dairy is correct... you are really setting yourself up to stall right out. (which really a stall is after 4 weeks of no change.) and you just dropped another pound, so technically, you haven't stalled. But you won't lose on 7 or 800 calories.

Your calories are very erratic. They range from 760 to 2000. I would aim for a more consistent 1500-1700. If you want to stagger your calories later, this is a more proper way to do that. I think you should definitely move on to OWL. Having a set goal of number of pounds to lose before leaving Induction isn't really advised. 16 pounds in 3 weeks is great! Your body is also probably just settling down its weight loss a little. It's not expected to continue to lose large amounts over time. Are you taking your measurements? That's super important. :) It looks like you're having a really tough time getting your veggies in. On the days when you get veggies it seems like you're only trying to eat salad, and sometimes twice in one day? I only looked at a few days so tell me if I'm wrong. I think you really need to find some alternate veggies that you like. You can't get enough NC from veggies off salad greens and a few salad toppings, and if you're like me you don't want to eat HUGE salads every day. Some days I resort to 2 servings (one cup) of green beans because that's like 4 NC. (Yes, green beans ARE allowed on Induction!) Check out some veggie menus over at the Atkins site. I think they will really be helpful! Go ahead and move to OWL. Maybe the extra 5NC freedom and more food choices will help as well. And watch that Newmann's Own salad dressing - 4 NC? YIKES!!! :)

"It's not expected to continue to lose large amounts over time." I meant that it's not expected to continue to lose large amounts of weight every single week. We lose in fits and spurts over time. Most people end up averaging 1-2 pounds a week over time. Sometimes that's 5 pounds in a week, and sometimes it's 0 pounds for 2 weeks. And a plateau is considered no weight lose and no inches lost for 4 weeks. :)
