Holy smokes batman, I am toast. I’ve been eating lower calorie for 5 days now after I realigned my goals away from weight training gains and now towards reducing body fat. Well it’s working for sure. I unofficially weighed in today at a record low of 170.8. Friday is my official weigh in. Dipping into the 160’s by then would be amazing. I feel like I am on track for that. However, if you think everything is going great for me, you would be mistaken. I felt like I was going to die this morning during my work out. I had to reduce weight on some exercises just to complete my sets. I had to talk myself out of quitting my routine 3 different times. Luckily I had just finished reading my inspirational Nerd Fitness newsletter which spoke about “Making Excuses”. This is what kept me from quitting. I kept thinking about something that the newsletter said. It was a quote about excuses.

“You can make excuses, or you can get what you want, but not both.”

So with that quote twirling around in my head I found myself crawling around on the floor, slightly dizzy, panting and gasping between my deadlift, squat and lunge sets. I am glad I work out at home (alone) so that no one saw my shameful act of puniness. (Well, the dog was looking at me kinda funny but I think he somehow understood what was going through.)

So I made it to work and I am still exhausted, three hours later. I knew lifting would be more difficult with a larger calorie deficit but geez, I wasn’t expecting to be transformed into a zombie who walks like beetlejuice after a leg day workout. I’m pretty sure I will pull through though. Hope everyone has a great day. Make it count!

From one zombie to another I know about dragging through a day it is rough. I hope you find something to naturally boost your energy soon. Congrats on your continued progress and your new all time low. Great quote, words to live by.

Thanks for sharing the quote, that's very inspirational. I'm going to write it down and put it on my desk.

Excellent quote. It is amazing how what you eat (and how much) can change the way you feel from day to day. I read yesterday that it takes 1000 calories just for your brain to function for the day. That is pretty significant to me. Given all the "must do's" that your body has, there is really very little left over to fuel the weight lifting or other activity.

I'm right there with you as always Brent. Today is a day off and then I go back to powerlifting....on my fat loss diet. It's going to be brutal, but I've been there several times before. All you can do is have 'fun' with it!
