HealthyBabs's Journal, 18 February 2011

TGIF!! Haven't journaled much this week but have been on some commenting on others. Things have been hectic since my dad's surgery, he is recuperating nicely.

Now, just have to keep my mom on track. A neighbor of theirs called me last night to tell me that my mom crawled out of the 2nd story window and was shoveling the snow off the front porch....WHAT ???? She is playing the martyr right now and I get it, she thinks she has to do everything herself, but come on isn't that going a bit far???? Oh and by the way, she is 80! Please Lord give me the strength!!

About this sugar fix I have been battling all week. Maybe not really JUST sugar, it is salt, sweet, crunchy, chocolate. I think I have identified that it is due to boredom at work since it does not happen at home. Yesterday was much better and I am working at home today so we will see. I am keeping some Kashi bars in my desk just in case the urge strikes and planning for it in my journal rather than ravageing the candy machine.

So looking to some warm weather today, around 50. Going to get down to the trails this afternoon for a nice long walk. We also need to chop up some snow banks to promote melting and give us a little more room in the driveway. All this to ready for another storm on its way for Monday! No spring yet here in the Northeast!

Have a blessed day everyone!

So glad to hear your dad is recuperating well. I sure hope your mom got back in the house and off that roof safely. 80 years old and on the roof. What a daring soul she is. Chopping snow banks is definately great exercise. Where abouts in the Northeast are you? I'm in Vermont and haven't heard of any storms as of yet. I sure hope there is no more, as I am more than ready for summer.lol Hope your day was a great one and your evening is even better.:)

Thanks Laura - yeah, my mom is 80 and thinks she is 30 again. She will be getting a talkin' to tomorrow! I grew up in MA, college in NH then moved to CA for 18 years and moved back here to CT about 6 years ago. It was 50 here today and unbelievably it just started thundering and lightening and pouring rain. Weird weather! Snow is coming on Monday!!

I lived in Connecticut for almost 2 years. It was a sure mistake to have moved back here, but my ex-husband just couldn't be away from his mother. I loved it there. We were in a little town called Sterling. It was when we lived in Conn. that we had a thunder and lightning storm in the middle of winter as well. Only it was snowing hard, but warm. Go figure huh? At least your mom doesn't act 80. That's great that she still does so much, just that she shouldn't be on the roof.lol I agree that you should give her a talkin' to. Enjoy your evening.:)

Lisa, thankfully I am over the sugar thing that I went thru earlier this week. I do have alot going on in my life right now and just trying to strike the right balance is a challenge in itself. This journey I am on it so important and I am committed to it, however, I can not let it consume me as I have to spread myself in many other directions as well right now. I must just incorporate it into everything else, keep the stress level at reasonable, get enough sleep and keep moving forward.
