njashka8's Journal, 29 April 2014

the weight is creeping back down very slowly. It's the best way for a permanant loss but I have to stay patient and just stick to my eating plan;-)
Edit: I saw a post about replacing pasta and rice with cauliflower, sorry can't remember by who, but I thought it is a fantastic idea and will be trying it tonight when my family has spaghetti and minced meat sauce! I love the sauce with extra lean mince and lots of fresh veggies and fresh tomato sauce! That way I can have it too whilst saving lots of carbs and calories! I will be steaming the cauliflower and chopping it finely like suggested;-)

Weight sneaks on slowly and goes the same way, you are doing well.

Stay focused on what you want! If you want weight loss, then focus on that. Don't worry on what's happening. I reckon you should first not look into your current weight. Instead you should focus on your target weight with true determination. Things and situations will change accordingly. So there is nothing to worry. Because everything is possible :)

Janetofnq the unfair thing is mine piled on fast because it's still leftover pregnancy weight and I'm thinking if I don't lose it all now it will creep up on me over the years! Thanks for the support! I saw you did well on your weigh in today!

2 cups of cauliflower is only 50 calories? I need to buy some. :)

Yes it is great! And so healthy;-)

I often replace mashed potato or rice with cauliflower but I tend to use cabbage to replace pasta, the long thin strips twirl nicely and look vaguely similar. I keep hearing about spaghetti squash but have never seen it in Australia.

That sounds great will try it with cabbage ! There are a few things I haven't been able to find in Australia like black beans and plain, unsweetened apple sauce. Maybe it's just Townsville though. I really want to make the flour free black bean brownies!

You'll eventually control your weight like a pro! :) Experience always helps. You can make cauliflower pizza crust too :) It's apparently a very versatile vegetable! heheh.

Black beans are found in tins in the Asian section of a supermarket; for apple sauce, simply stew sliced or diced or chopped apples with a small amount of water until the apples are soft then puree or blend or even mash down with a fork (or use apple baby food).

Thanks janet! How silly that I didn't think of this(my laziness probably;-)) as I made this for my babies;-)

Oh and deb, cauliflower even has negative calories which means your body uses more calories to digest it than you've consumed by eating it! Go cauliflower!!!!
29 Apr 14 by member: njashka8
Wow! Negative calories!! heheh :)

Love those negative calorie foods! Where is the list? I think green beans and broccoli have to be on that list. Those are two that I like. I'm sure there are more. hmmm

We had a pasta sauce the other night and zucchini noodles, with a potato pealer just peal the zucchini then just blanch until soft it was really great

The "Symply too good to be true" cook books by Annette Sym are a great investment, she has every thing from breakfast to supper recipes and they are all great and they have the calories counted!
