LuC2's Journal, 15 April 2014

Have felt awful the last few days...sinus/cold - flu, maybe?? Achy, tired and just barely plugging along. Kept trying to push through it, but spent yesterday in bed (very atypical for me). On the upside, no appetite. Have forced in some nutrients yesterday and today (no exercise either). Took a 4-lb loss in weight, but will probably come back as soon as I'm eating again. My family watched "Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead" (the movie) on HuluPlus with me last night. It convinced my hubby to do a 10-day juice detox with me after Easter! Nobody can help you get fit until you get committed in YOUR mind to work a change! So, I'm very happy to have him onboard for some of this by choice instead of just by default (me cooking differently). Ok, back to lay down now. See ya'll tomorrow.

oh honey, juicing is soooooo not the way to go for you... please take this advice to heart... eat sensibly, work out moderately, lose weight slowly... and why wait until after Easter if you can choose now not to gain the Easter weight!!! I told you being my buddy is a burden!!!

Congrats on getting your hubby involved. It’s so much easier when they are working with you!! And that documentary is a good one. I enjoyed it but wasn’t motivated enough to try to live on juice that long. Good luck!

First - I hope you are feeling better and that your flu/cold/whatever is gone. That was a good movie, I've watched it two or three times. I even bought a very nice juicer. And my family loved all the juices I made for them (oh - except for the one with beets in it...that was just nasty. LOL). Anyway, I found out the hard way that juicing was NOT for me. Too much sugar for my system to handle. Also, I did a reboot with juice and veggies only and it did not agree with me. Your mileage may vary though. You might find that it is does wonders for you. Good for you for keeping an open mind and trying it! Keep in mind, though, that the man in the movie had some serious health issues. If you don't have an extreme illness, there is really no need for an extreme treatment. You could just include some juices to try it first before committing to it. Either way - good luck to you.

I hear you, Puhpine :) You sincerely think 10 days of would be detrimental? (Inbox me). And I absolutely plan to stay on-plan during Easter (mostly because that's when hubby and I will restock kitchen). I have no intention of overeating, undereating or candy-eating over this holiday. Just do what I've been doing...

I have been wondering where you were. I am sorry your not feeling well. I hope you get better soon

You're right, Bigbassbrent! The movie really prompted him in a way I haven't been able to this last 30days since I've started. I'm not sure I could (or would want to) do more than 10-days but if it jumpstarts, I figured, "Why not..." as long as health isn't impacted.

Thanks, SDallyn. I always have a chicken in my freezer. Of course, now that I'm sick...na-dah! Oh well, I'll figure something else out for this evening.

Sorry to hear you aren't feeling well. Hope you are better soon and back on track. Maybe the loss will stay off! Good for your husband that he is on board with you that should make it a bit easier for both of you.

I hear you, Darlene, and will keep that in mind as well. I do not have any health issues (thank God) and so weightloss is vanity, preventive -- and just frankly, being big has become a burdensome nuisance! Thanks for the support everyone!

There are some really good juice recipes on the reboot with Joe website. We did learn that we really like fresh carrot juice. I think that's where the raw carrot soup recipe came from that my family loved so much. We also enjoyed the acorn squash stuffed with mushrooms and fresh sage. I still go on the website for good veggie recipes.

Thanks, for all the well wishes, FS Family! I'm sitting here now sneezing with my congested nose, contemplating whether or not I should go to bed yet. This is Day 4 and I'm getting stir crazy so going to try some light exercise tomorrow since my whole body has stopped feeling achy. I think my youngest son shared the love with this bug. Amazingly, he never had to lie in bed and bounced back after a day. It's about to take his over-40 y/o mommy outta here, though!
