Maybe it's not for me to give advice but one of these days you are not going to be on a DIET...then what. I think we all need to change our lifestyle in order to be healthy. Like Anthony Robbins said at event, eat water rich foods and lower fat proteins and have that decadent steak once in a while. I have done nothing more than eat the way I used to eat 6 years ago, water rich foods and lean protein, and have actually moved my ass. I guess what I'm saying, if you want to make it long term, change your viewpoint.

I believe the 'secret' in FatSecret is that there is no secret. Eating well (real food not gimmicks or diets or man-made 'frankenstein' food) in sensible portions (balanced intake vs output) and increased movement (exercise) is the only way to live a healthy life at the size and weight that's right for your body. I'm sincerely ready to take on this challenge at 42 y/o. (Took me long enough). Here's to late bloomers!

I am not on a diet. I have lost 43 lbs by eating clean at 1400 calories a day and exercising for 1.5 hours a day. When I reach my goal I will slowly add more nutritious calories until I reach my maintenance limit. I'm sorry that wasn't clear in my journal.

I agree with earlier comments. We really need to stop thinking about DIETING and realizing that we're all in the situation of wanting or needing to lose weight due to our LIFESTYLE. So, that being said, the sooner we start thinking about what we're doing here on FS as a LIFESTYLE and less of a DIET (which is something that by definition allows for cheating and going BACK to something else) the better off we'll be and the easier it will be to fully embrace what we're doing, which for me is about learning portion control, and making sensible choices, without feeling deprived. Just the thought of the word DIET and my mind (and therefore stomach) feels deprived. Thinking of it as a lifestyle, I have to look at long term maintenance and whether I can seriously be happy with this style of eating for the long haul...and for me the answer is YES...100% YES! I haven't felt deprived once...I don't have to spend hours in the gym...Since the 1st of March I have lost 30 pounds, and have not even one time felt deprived or jealous of what others around me were eating.

KRIS AZ are you doing a liquid fat fast? I did a food FF and I loved it. I did it March 31st, to April 4th if you wanna see what I ate. Sorry you're not feeling well on it. I will probably do another FF really soon. I lost 4.6 lbs on this FF. My first one I lost 6, but gained back 3 cause I didn't ease off, I ate normal the following day and regained.

KRIS I did a 5 day FF, but used day 5 as part of the exit so I increase calories by 100. Day 6 increased another 100. Then day 7 I did my regular fast (I intermittent fast every other day) its a fast of 500 calories of high fat followed by a feast day. But to change things up this week I am doing 2 consecutive days of 500 calories fast then a feast day.

You're doing great so far, just remember that for weight loss to be permanent we have to not think of our eating choices not as a "DIE-it" (I hate that word, it's self-defeating!), but as a permanent change of life. Changing what & how much we eat, exercising & being more active to make our bodies healthier, are all key factors in successful & permanent weight loss. Fad diets & quick weight loss schemes that just want you to buy their books & products from companies that couldn't care less if you keep the weight off are bad enough for younger people, but are much worse for those who aren't quite as young as we used to be. Your idea of a "fat mind in a thinner body" is accurate, but misleading, because it is just a symptom of the problem of needing to lose the weight more slowly, so your mind has time to adjust to your body's changes as you get thinner. I hope my words are helpful to you, & wish you all success in your continuing journey to a thinner, healthier you.
